Default 300 Pound Bench Press = More Cake

THis is my last gloating thread for a while... I promise.. lol

Things have been going so good lately.. that I just had to try to max my bench to see if I could hit 300.. and here's how it all played out.

Bar x 12
225 x 3
290 x 1
300 x 0 (spotters immediately assisted me cause I paused at the bottom for a second finding my groove.. I new I had it though, so I waited 45 seconds and tried again.. after explaining to them I want them to give me a bit of time, I'll tell you when I need help extra.)
300 x 1 CAKE!!!
315 x 0 Boo.. I brought it down alright, stopped, and moved it about 1.5" upwards before I couldn't budge it.. Felt like my shoulders were giving it up.
225 x 8.5

---

ANyway it's a big deal to me.. 300 pound bench.. and it's for real. Would of liked to get 315 (3 plates per side).. but some other day yo.

I'm so happy.

congrats man. One week ago I pushed up 295 for the first time. Its a great feeling. I am most certain that i could have done 300-305 had I tried based on how evenly I pushed up 295. I even went for a second rep of 295, but just missed it. I am not in the gym to be a power lifter and my ultimite goal is 315.

good job

THank you.. but if you almost made 2 reps.. then you should definately be able to hit 300+... hell you almost at your ultimate goal.. Good stuff.

And thanks everyone else.. I will hit 400 pounds.. not sure how long it's going to take, but I'm working towards it.. ( I have feeling this won't be so easy though.. lol)

great job!! It will take no time to hit 400! You can do it, but remember.. keep those shoulders healthy.

When I went over 400, it really did take it's toll on me. If I keep it under 325 for reps, I'm okay. About a month after the wonderful 400 and going even to 415, I was out of lifting for four weeks because my shoulders hurt so much, I couldn't do any upper body without a lot of pain. All healed now, but that goal did a lot of damage I think.

Lol.. Fadi.. i thought you liked me.

And yea I hear you Hrpiii, actually my shoulders are just begininng to feel right, after a long stretch of feeling like ass... I would of never been able to do the 300 if i was hurting. Now if I can just stay healthy.

my next goal is to bench 225 for 25 reps. I'm sticking at 23 and 24 reps. But I haven't tried it in three weeks..my next try will be this coming weekend. With you hitting your goal..maybe I can hit mine! Way to go big man.

Also, that split you posted is right on target, hopefully a lot of people searching for a routine will look closely at it.
