waynaferd has a spectacular aura about
Default Muscle Asylum Project.....anyone try anything?

I've been seeing ads everywhere, which mean nothing to me, but came across a bunch of thier stuff at a surplus store and the prices seem a lot better than the cheapest stuff at Wal-Mart. So anyway I was gonna buy a 3 or 4 month supply of everything but wanted sme opinions. Can anyone give me any? Thanks!!

I've also seen there ads popping up here and there. I haven't tried them and I don't see myself doing so but to address your situation: It's impossible to judge the efficacy of a product by simply looking at its price. If the product is effective, price won't be an problem for the majority. Depending on the pricing range, it might not be viable for everyone. Regardless, the fact is now you know the product works. You might have to downsize from time to time and buy a less expensive product to hold you over meanwhile but that compromise anything but the affordability. Unless the company has already tested the product(s) themselves and presented you with the results the only surefire way to know if a product "works" or not is to try it for yourself. Even then, you don't always get an accurate reading, so to speak.

I can't really expect a supplement sold at Wal-mart to be of high quality. If it doesn't cost much when it hits the shelves, imagine how cheap it was for the company to produce it and that doesn't sound too high-quality if it's that cheap! Hopefully someone else who has tried it will help you out so you don't have to find out for yourself.

If its just whey its not too hard to mess up right?

I use the walmart whey and it seems fine. Body Fortress lol, and they make very nice shakers too, so I think they have an idea what theyre doing.

Should I be drinking a different whey? I understood that whey varies only slightly, mainly due to a few grams of sugar, protein, or carb difference, but nothing significant

and 2lbs is 14$

I just checked the nutrition label on it...

it incorporates creatine, Flax Oil, Other omega-3 acids, and "Metabolic Inferno" which seems to be a fat burner to me?

all that ish in my protein... eh...

but this was the FREAK FIX.. is their a more basic whey by them?

You'd be surprised Spin. If there wasn't a difference between Brand A & Brand B, there wouldn't be more than one brand. Everyone is obviously trying to compete and sell there product as the better choice and there is such thing as a better choice when choosing nutritional supplementation. Like you said in the grass-fed beef thread, "the good stuff" is typically going to "cost more" than the mediocre stuff. The phrase "You get what you pay for" applies in more situations than we think. Rarely do you find a "good deal" that's actually "good", per se.

Quote:
The difference between the whey protein concentrate and whey protein isolate is vast. Whey protein isolate contains 90% or more of pure whey protein and is its most highly concentrated form. Whey concentrate typically contains only 15-59% of pure whey protein and also is known to possess additional fats and lactate within its formula. The difference in price between the two will be apparent to any buyer in the market for a protein supplement. While some may want to save money and invest in concentrate, the money kept is simply a trade off for a more than likely inferior protein product and can do more damage to you than good.

In recent years, whey protein technology has advanced faster than any other supplement category. Just about every whey protein on the store shelves today is manufactured using 10-year old science. The reason is simply the lure of a big profit margin. It's much easier and cheaper (making the profit margin much wider) for supplement companies to keep producing a whey protein using 10-year old science.

"Whey protein" is a broad description of a protein extracted from milk. This means you can have a very poor quality whey protein and a highly refined whey isolate and each can be labeled "whey protein". Simply because a protein supplement is "100% Whey" it does not mean you are getting the complete muscle-building benefits that cutting-edge food science has to offer. It's too expensive to produce and the profit margins are too small.Over the past few years the quality of the majority of whey protein supplements has regressed significantly. In the quest to slash costs, companies have resorted to slashing quality. In fact, the quality of most whey proteins is so poor, it's actually very easy to make a superior protein these days.

The unfortunate thing with the reduction in protein quality is that because of very ambiguous labeling regulations, companies can label even the crudest whey protein the same as a high-tech whey protein. There is nothing stopping the companies from making their whey protein sound like the greatest thing ever made. And one look at the labels on these very poor whey proteins tells you that they are all taking full advantage of this loophole.

There's a GNC by my house that is price matching. If you can find another retail store that has any product GNC carries for a cheaper value, they'll match the competition's. It isn't really a bargain, per se, but I would've never expected that from GNC. They must be doing pretty bad lol. Bally's is another one that's doing pretty bad. They filed for bankruptcy a second time and it's evident business isn't booming for them because they're advertising pretty hard. Every 30 min. I see a commercial on TV for Bally's with all these new offers, promotions, etc.

Yeah.

Why Bally's filed bankruptcy a 2nd time

Reason #1 as pointed by lostboy: their plans aren't viable for the masses.

They don't sell this stuff at Wal-Mart, I got it at a surplus store, for $11 a tub of freak fix, which is cheaper than the cheap stuff that wal-mart has, and a couple tubs of NO Plasmacore for $23. I don't know why anyone thought I meant the wal-mart brand. The store resells overstocks, or stuff from warehouses that burn or flood or whatnot. Anyway, freak fix is around $44 at GNC, and the plasma core around $60.

yeah i saw the line on the front store display of a walmart at a shopping center recently. oh, and about the wal-mart comment, i know the products weren't sold at wal-mart, i was just saying i couldn't imagine a supp. being sold at wal-mart being much of a great product. i don't know if you had me in mind when you said that but either way, let us know what you think of the line!
