Default Melatonin VS Solaray Sleep Blend

I'm looking at two different items here to help promote a more complete and quicker sleep. I have tried other items with Valerian and had good results.

I know that with Melatonin you need to do cycles, but what about the sleep blend?

Solaray Sleep Blend SP-17, 100 Capsules
Ingredients:
Valerian, Hops, Skullcap, Passion Flower, Dandelion, Chamomile, Marshmallow, Hawthorn.

Optimum Melatonin, 100 Tablets
Ingredients:
Calcium 72mg, Phosphorus 55mg, Melatonin 3mg

Could I get some opinions on these?

Thanks

I sell both products

I take l-theanine ( legal xanax)

it make me feel calm and content, and hels me to sleep better than any of those other blends

Melatonin works in helping you fall asleep. I notice valerian helps in sleeping deeper. l-theanine relaxes you. Phenibut gives you a wicked buzz... a combo of those and goooood night... only thing is you have to take them separately as they all take different amounts of time to start working.

Theanine works within like 25 mins, depending on your metabolic rate.....

They make a liquid.......

Theres a good combo of melatonin , valerian, and l theanine...

what i dont like about melatonin , is thats it is a hormone actually and it makes me feel hungover sometimes, and dragged out the next day....

wow... melatonin never makes me feel hungover - in fact its the most mellow of the compounds i have tried. It seems to work within about 5 minutes and if you arent asleep in 15 it seems to be gone (quick i know).

Just a side note - green tea has a good amount of caffeine and theanine. Which makes for a wicked buzz. Out of all of them Tazo green tips seem to be the best (not Tazo Zen).

Melatonin didn't help me fall asleep. When I took it, I'd get a real deep sleep for 2-3 hours, wake up, sleep deep for 2-3 hours, wake up, etc. I'd feel real hazy after I woke up, too, like I took nyquil or something. weird.

I'm pretty interested in this L-Theanine, what would you recommend for dosage and are there any perceived dangers?

L-theanine is a amino acid that is found alot in green tea...

Dosages varies...

100mg to 200mgs and you can take up to 600mg - 1000mgs a day , the high numbers cause i reccomend this to people at the store for panic and anxiety attacks...

i would start off with 100mgs and see what happens if not try 200, i only really needed 200 to calm my ass down and put me out...

L-theanine just really relaxes you soo you can fall asleep without racing thoughts and stress

I feel thats the main cause of peoples sleep issues...

And ^^^BUMP^^ to the green tea, thats why when you drink green tea you may not feel really speedy its the natuarally occuring l-theanine in it

I found that with melatonin if I don't fall asleep in about an hour I get a bad headache from it. If I do sleep, however, I feel fine the next day.

How long does Valerian take to kick in? I've just bought a sleep aid that has 2000mg Valerian and 500mg Lemon Balm.

Another thing, do you guys get overly dependent on sleep aids? How often do you take them?

(I hope I'm not hijacking this thread by asking some of my own questions. If I am, let me know!)

Valerian is a herb, actually a root....

It dosent make u tires, it promotes relaxation...

As with anything depends on your metabolic rate , id say though 30mins-1hr

And as for the rate of use, if you need sleep aides for more than 2 weeks, u got a more serious problem id say..

And what i mean by that, is with the use of sleep aides your still only getting like 2-3 hours of sleep....

Might be more of a serious issue

Take them as often as you feel necessary, your body wont get dependent, but you might psychologically, meaning you might think you need it.

Valeriana officinalis (Valerian Root) is good, but look into:

Valeriana acutiloba (Rocky Mountain Valerian) - Stronger then officinalis

Pedicularis Densiflora (Indian Warrior) - The most potent species of Pedicularis(Relaxants/Sedatives).

Cypripedium pubescens (Lady's Slipper) - Stronger then Valerian, but not as much as Pedicularis Densiflora.

Passiflora incarnata (Passion Flower) - Gives you great relaxation and sedated feeling.

Great for Meditation and Deep Sleep.

Also, Calea zacatechichi (Dream Herb) is a highly vivid plant. It will give you some VERY vivid dreams if taken before bed. You can use it as a tea or smoke.

I disagree. I take a capsule or two every night simply to relax me and put me into a deep sleep. I don't have any sleeping problems, I just like to get to sleep fast and sleep deep, and vividly dream. There are many herbs out there that have sedative and relaxing effects, Passiflora incarnata (Passion Flower) is one of my favorites.

I was saying if you onyl sleep like 2-3 hours with a sleep aide......

i understand the point to put u into a deep sleep...

But if u need to take something everyday to put you to sleep, there is something wrong the human body does not need to ingest someting thatll put you to sleep, that should be a natural thing...

i do see your point o getting into a deep sleep though i agree on that

I run a health food store =D Of course =D

Solaray makes good blends, ive tried valerian root , We stell the actual root ....

Passion flower we sell loose also, i sell a tea i make with passion, valerian, chamomile, and kava kava, people seem to like it....

All the natural stuff seems to be the best i get people away from the melatonin, cause believe it or not there is a increase of poeple who take it, and they feel hungover off it...

I personally believe it to be, a due cause of poeple ingesting soo much hormones from food they eat meat extc, thats what actually cause hormonal imbalances in the body, then there taking a fake hormone to make them sleep, it just dosent react well with it....

Thats just a personal study of mine
