Default Gaspari Plasmajet

OK so I did a search for plasmajet and nothing came up so I"m thinking no one has started a thread on it.

Gaspari claims:
Massive Muscle Pumps*
Increases Gains in Lean Mass, Strength and Stamina*
Increased Vascularity*
Stimulates Glycogen Building in Skeletal Muscle*
Maximum Vasodilation*
Increased Uptake of Amino Acids and Other Nutrients*
Increased Male Sexual Performance*
Post Cycle Therapy Powerhouse*

From the website:
After almost 2 years in development, the most intense and effective nitric oxide boosting product ever seen or sold in the sports supplement industry... and we mean EVER, is here. We knew the last thing this industry needed was another “me too” NO product, but when you come across something so unique and so powerful that its bound to obliterate an entire category, what choice did we have. This is not just about instant gratification…its about big gains – now and down the road. Sure PlasmaJet™ will increase definition and vascularity, but also size, strength and endurance on a level previously unattainable by ANY other nitric oxide mediated sports supplement EVER!

Finally, a Nitric Oxide product that will really take your physique to new heights... and not just for a few fleeting hours or a few days. Forget your previous experience or preconceived notions about what NO products can or can’t do. You’ll be amazed at what PlasmaJet™ will do for you!

So what did I do. I bought some. The box comes with 16 blister packs, each with 10 red plasmajet caps. The directions say to only take on training days and never take on back to back days. Honestly, I think its hype. The first day, I thought the workout was great!! Subsequent days lead me to believe that that day was just me being great. I honestly do not notice a difference and do not agree that plasmajet is "the most intense and effective nitric oxide boosting product ever seen or sold in the sports supplement industry". I think I wasted my money - Anyone else give it a try and feel differently?

I feel that NO products tend to be mismarketed. The scam is not arginine but the concept in which is created by the marketing methods used by the companies themselves to sell their product. It seems that the NO products do not aquire the capability to significantly up-regulate NO production in the first place. 1333% increase in anything sounds ridiculous in almost anything you talk about.

I actually had a few good experiences with VPX's Muscle Nitrous Pump but the only downside (IMO) was it containing artificial flavors. I wish the old days at Mass Nutrition when I used to get it for free. NO is supposed to act as a cell to cell communicator for specific metabolic functions and muscle growth is not one of them. There isn't much solid research to substantiate the claims made for NO, especially regarding NO playing a part in increasing protein synthesis, contractile strength or any other biochemical pathway that may lead to increases in muscle mass.

Quote:
"Nitric oxide is toxic at high physiological concentration where it appears to function as a cellular effector molecule that mediates both cytostatic and cytotoxic effect." [1]

"NO is generated in the course of inflammatory and immune reactions, both by macrophages and by neutrophils. The role of these cells is quite extensive, and includes phagocytic and non-phagocytic destruction of foreign or damaged cells. These processes involve the production of large quantities of NO, which is cytotoxic." [1]

"Although NO can be cytotoxic to tumour cells (as it is to other cells), it can also act as a carcinogen." [2]

"NO, a chemical radical, and its toxic derivatives can cause DNA damage and cell death in a variety of cell types. NO also has the ability to directly modify intracellular targets such as proteins and lipid-peroxidation products. NO produces cytotoxicity at high concentrations, whereas NO at lower concentrations may have the opposite effect and protect against apoptotic cell death from various stimuli. Therefore, regulation of NO production is vital for both cell survival and genome integrity. DNA damage triggers p53 protein accumulation, which produces either growth arrest or apoptosis. Exposure of cells to high NO concentrations causes DNA damage and apoptosis, and recent results have shown that NO stimulates p53 accumulation and p53-mediated apoptosis." [3]
