There is no "best vitamin." Ideally, you want something that is comprehensive but also specific. Any company can throw 1000 different ingredients on a label and sell it as a vitamin. What makes a vitamin special is the synergy of its components.
This is what I take: ~$14 for a month supply and it contains everything you need as a male for longevity (prostate and immunity health) and functionality (Omega 3 & 6, Bioflavs, E & B Complexes). Nature's Bounty Ponder your diet and lifestyle and try to judge what you lack the most. Make sure your multi-vitamin supplements it well. |

What caught my attention the most in Gill's post was when he said " it contains everything you need as a male for longevity (prostate and immunity health) and functionality"----This is fundamental when deciding on a viable multi-vitamin be you man (or woman in the case of reproductive health). The supplement doesn't guard you from any diseases or sicknesses but it's supposed to compliment and be an extra component to strengthening your immune system. Any company can throw in a few things in a tab and call itself a vitamin but it may not be what you're looking for. As a female, I went looking high and low for a multivitamin in the end I chose a prenatal multi-vitamin. I had to take into consideration my health, my needs (in a light of a condition) and something that fits my budget and lifestyle. I personally chose Rainbow Light's Just Once Prenatal. I don't think this is relegated to just women though, despite it being a prenatal vitamin and further more, the Rainbow Light brand does make other brands. Keep in mind I'm no where near having a kid, wanting one, or trying to have a kid---I'm just looking for what's best for me. It meets my needs. So when choosing a vitamin make sure you search high and low, and take in all factors. But I definitely recommend Gill's choice of Nature's Bounty, my sister takes them and she can't gush more. I'm sure the one dedicated to men are just as good. ^_^ |

The ONLY multi Ive EVER been able to feel a difference with in energy, health, etc. is DoubleX. Ive tried stuff from GNC, websites all over, and its the only one Id ever use from now on. Its kinda expensive but in my mind well worth it. I got started on it after a bad illness that really messed up my immune system and energy levels. The doctor prescribed me some stuff and recommended different things but none seemed to cut it. I switched over to this stuff and was like magic! Also used by several Olympic Athletes!

There's been about 4 other threads on this topic, which is okay with me because now I can make another attempt at getting a clear answer after I address a few things concerning multiples.
I'm not so interested in brands, but more so, what exactly makes a multivitamin "good", "quality", or the best for that matter. Where's the proof that any multivitamin is any of the preceding? Another thing, how do you know your multivitamin is absorbing? Throwing ingredients into a matrix in the form of a tablet or capsule does not ensure in any way, shape, or form, that they will reach their specified destination in the gastrointestinal tract to deliver maximum benefit. One good example could be calcium products that are compressed into a tablet: most of them simply pass all the way through your digestive tract intact like a pebble. It's difficult to achieve bioavailability in a supplement if you have don't have the technology and the know-how (aka research) to do so. There's been rigorous analytical testing done on vitamin B-complex supplements. In one test, 13 brands were tested and found 9 failed to dissolve folic acid. Amongst the many errors in the tested brands, the main problem lay in the formulation of the product in which the folic acid is incorporated in the core, or the inside, of the pill. Unfortunately, when this is the case, the folic acid gets caught up in the matrix (not with Keanu Reeves

I read that if your multi is one tablet per day, then you should cut it in half and take half in the morning, half before bed because your body can't absorb it all at once. I dunno
I feel better when i take mine, my hair grows faster too.

A multi should be able to absorb efficiently regardless of how many comprise one serving (i.e. 100% of every essential nutrient). Logically speaking, the chances of high bioavailability in a one-a-day vs. a two-a-day are slim. It would also be more convenient to split a 2 tablet daily serving than having to perform surgery on 1 tablet in order to split up your daily dosage!

Even without pill splitters, many pills are scored in the middle just for such purposes.
