Ripspeed has a spectacular aura about
Default what else do i need?

i know supplements are not essential and proper exercise and diet can get you the results you want, but what would you say the top 3 supplements are if you were to choose?

right now i only take instant whey, but from what ive been reading the other 2 main ones are L-glutamine and BCAA's, whatever they are. what are BCAA's? or are they the same as glutamine.

would using these 3 help with gains/muscle maintenence?

cheers.

Glutamine is an amino acid but if your taking BCAA's then forget about glutamine. BCAA's are proven in there results while glutamine has its doubts and uncertainty. I would say

Whey protein
BCAA (Scivation Xtend)(personal preference)
Multivitamin
Omega Fatty Acids(Fish oil, Flaxseed oil)

Thats really all you need as far as supplement essentials. The rest is diet, lift heavy, and get plenty of sleep.

And to answer your question, BCAA are branched chained amino acids which are the building blocks of your muscles. Their levels get depleted during strenous excercise and need to be replenished. Taking BCAA's while help in the recovery department and if taken during or before your workout while help your muscle endurance as well.

BCAAs (Branched Chain Amino Acids) - These are leucine, isoleucine and valine. The combination of these three essential amino acids make up approximately 1/3 of skeletal muscle in the human body, and play an important role in protein synthesis (Protein synthesis is the creation of proteins using DNA and RNA).

When you lift weights, you are essentially breaking down the muscle fibers. Immediately after lifting, your muscles are starving for nutrition and what better to give them than BCAAs? The BCAAs will aid in the repair of your muscles and do to the additional BCAAs, your muscles will repair faster, stronger and bigger than before.

My top three:

Whey

You can get BCAAs in a powder or pill form. Powder is better because it is absorbed much quicker.

Try doing a little research on your own bud.

Depending on your whey protein, some BCAAs are probably included. Give you tub a good read-through to see what you're already hitting your body with.

On the suggestion of somebody here, I picked up Scivation Xtend as well and have really enjoyed it. It doesn't taste half bad and I don't feel like a broken down car after a hard workout.
