And to answer your question, BCAA are branched chained amino acids which are the building blocks of your muscles. Their levels get depleted during strenous excercise and need to be replenished. BCAAs (Branched Chain Amino Acids) - These are leucine, isoleucine and valine. The combination of these three essential amino acids make up approximately 1/3 of skeletal muscle in the human body, and play an important role in protein synthesis (Protein synthesis is the creation of proteins using DNA and RNA).
When you lift weights, you are essentially breaking down the muscle fibers. Immediately after lifting, your muscles are starving for nutrition and what better to give them than BCAAs? The BCAAs will aid in the repair of your muscles and do to the additional BCAAs, your muscles will repair faster, stronger and bigger than before.

You can get BCAAs in a powder or pill form. Powder is better because it is absorbed much quicker.

Depending on your whey protein, some BCAAs are probably included. Give you tub a good read-through to see what you're already hitting your body with.
On the suggestion of somebody here, I picked up Scivation Xtend as well and have really enjoyed it. It doesn't taste half bad and I don't feel like a broken down car after a hard workout. |
