thanks for the info. will look for that natural pb.

dont think its the pb that is making my acne worse though.

instead i really think its the dextrose because thats the only thing i really changed to my diet when this acne broke out shortly afterwards.

I've been taking Mega Man and ON suppliments - I haven't had the same reaction that you have. Maybe you need some sun. I'll break out in the winter simply because I dont get enough sun.

Just a thought.

Peace out

i get plenty of sun, and i think it does help.
but i think im allergic to something.
i've cut out milk, beef, pork, ON whey, dextrose, mega men vitamins and seeing a difference.
i doubt its milk beef pork or the mega men vitamins, since i consumned these way before this problem started.

i've broken it down to on whey and dextrose.

i usually take the ON whey protein with the old packaging, but this last batch is the new packaging. I was looking at the ingredients on both and noticed a small difference. Do you guys know if the company changed anything else other than the cover?

Don't be so quick to dismiss certain aspects of your diet, such as the ones you mentioned above. It's a cumulative effect when it comes to an ingredient in your diet having a negative effect on your body. These could have triggered a series of chemical reactions that led you up to your current situation. To actually identify what might be the culprit, you can slowly begin implementing some of these things back into your diet. [Dairy] milk especially, plays a big role in acne due to all the hormones it contains:
Quote:
"Hormones found in cow's milk include: Estradiol, Estriol, Progesterone, Testosterone, 17-Ketosteroids, Corticosterone, Vitamin D, insulin-like growth factor, growth hormone, prolactin, oxytocin..."

what im doing right now is working for me. there is basically red blemishes, but not really active acne. I will definately add the products i had cut out one by one to see what happens later.

does anyone know if Optimum changed there ingredients in their new standard gold double choc? compared to the old package ones.

You could start by checking out a Whole Foods or Wild Oats, if you have one of those in your area. Any supermarket that has a Gluten-Free section should do, if you're searching for groceries of that sort.

I too have problems with acne. Since I was 12, I have been breaking out non stop. I was always told Id grow out of it but Im 22 now and still break out. I was even prescribed some medicine from a dermatologist (doxycycline or clindamyacin or something) but that didnt help. But now I pretty much have my acne under control. I get a few every now and then, but I can deal with a few pimples rather than have it on my whole face.

First let me say that protein has never caused my acne, but taking men's vitamins has. Regular vitamins are alright, like centrum, but the stuff formulated for men has a bad effect on me.

What I use to control my acne is this:
Aveeno Clear Complexion Face Wash
Jergen's Ultra Healing Lotion
Hand Sanitizer with Aloe.

Let me explain. The Aveeno face wash is strictly foam. There are none of those little scrubbing thingies to exfoliate your face. Since I have extremely sensitive skin, stuff like Proactive with the little scrubbers in the wash just make it worse. Aveeno is all foam, and I wash my face with it gently making sure I get all areas. If I neglect a certain area, usually right under my earlobe, I'll get a pimple there. After washing, I pat dry and apply a small amount of Jergens. Thats it.

As for the hand sanitizer, I use that as aftershave. When I was in USMC boot camp we didnt have aftershave, only hand sanitizer. I started to like it after a while. Like I said earlier I have a real sensitive face, so I usually get alot of irritation when I shave. The hand sanitizer actually cools my face and relieves the burn a little.

Thats what works for me. No special lotions, face washes, or the miracle "overnight pimple cream." None of that has ever worked for me. Just a nice gentle face wash and some lotion and I was good to go. If what you are using now doesnt work, try it out. Give it about 2 weeks and your face should start clearing up. Good luck.

I've seen two dermatologist because of some severe breakouts that I had. Which started when I began taking multi-vitamins. One of them had suggested is wasn't the vitamins itself but the fillers that they used in vitamins to form the pills. I'm not sure how true that could be.

The other dermatologist seem to think that it was an allergic reaction because my body wasn't used to taking highly potent multi-vitamins and he simply suggested drinking more water. I was already drinking close to gallon a day. So, I started drinking close 1.5 gallons a day and that seem to fix the issue after 2 weeks.

But I wondering if drinking all that water just flushes all those vitamins out of your body???!

update. I had my acne under control. I decided to go back on the protein shakes and everything was fine until a week later i started having uncontrolable acne again. i quickly stopped intaking these shakes and my acne only got better.

I would like to also add that my skin hasn't looked healthy at all for a while now. my face has red blemishes all over. but 2 days ago i drank about 4 cups of milk through out the day and my skin today for some odd reason looks alot more balanced!

coincidence?

Hey Kinside.

I've had the same probem kinda. I havent drank milk and ate any dairy products for about a year. My acne was pretty much under control until i started working out. I was eating alot of Peanuts for the protein and started breaking out. So 3 weeks go by with no more peanuts or PB and my acne cleared. SO, I thought maybe its wasnt the milk all though the year i didnt drink. Maybe it was the PB and peanuts that made me break out all those years. SO i started drinking Whey Protein shakes with milk and started breaking out again. The thing is I gained 3 pounds in a week on the whey and milk.

Well, I justed wanted to share my story. Plz keep updating. I'm going to stop the milk and whey today. I expect to be clear in 3 weeks. If I get clear i'm goiong to try mixing the whey with water.

i HIGHLY recommend taking CHELATED ZINC tablets.

i've been having acne since i was 12 and am now 23. i've tried everything, believe me - EVERYTHING. then one day my girlfriend read something on a beauty forum that says taking chelated zinc (and going on the pill) would help.

my acne cleared up within 3-4 weeks. apparently it's got to do with some deficiency. do give it a try. it really really works.

i also substituted cow's milk with soy milk, and drank heaps more water (abt 1.5 gallons a day). i realised from former experimentation that dairy and dehydration causes me to break out.

you have to realise that the acne problem is essentially an internal problem that manifests itself as acne. it's not so much what you use to wash your face and stuff. that being said, you do have to keep your face clean.

lastly, drink half a shot of apple cider vinegar (i take bragg's organic apple cider vinegar) diluted in abt 10oz of water 2-3 times day. it is a powerful natural antioxidant. do a google search on apple cider vinegar, you'll find heaps of information.

do keep us updated.

also, i'm not sure if you all are familiar with traditional chinese medicine, but taking chocolate flavoured whey is very "heaty", and so are peanuts. it's the balance of the yin and yang thing. drink more water to balance out the "heatiness" of these foods and take more "cooling" stuff like watermelons, boiled barley water with rock sugar, chrysanthemum tea, and water chestnuts. beer (not wine) is "cooling" too, but too many calories.

Everyone is different. If you want to still take the protein shakes, just keep a close eye on your skin. stop if you break out, cause it leaves alot of scars and redmarks.

honestly you can still get good results without the shakes.

I want to slowly introduce milk back into my diet. Since i noticed it is improving my skin tone. Alot of people link acne to milk, but maybe its only true if you drink too much of it?
