chriscarr_78 has a spectacular aura about
Default Supplements or Food?

Been on the site a little while now and read a lot of the threads available to try and avoid regurgitating topics previously covered and, to gain knowledge.

Currently I'm recovering from an injury but heading back (slowly) to my pre-injury regime and when I'm fully recovered I'm hoping to be back in the gym 5 times a week.
I'm 29yrs old, 5"10 and weigh 90kg (up from 75).

The question I'm wanting to ask is this.
Do supplements really make a difference or would I be better trying to get all my nutrients from my food?

Before my injury I was eating 5 meals a day and I don't think my diet was bad. Generally I eat:

Tuna
Chicken
Pasta
Vegetables
Potatoes
Cereals
Toast (with peanut butter and jam)
Fruit (always mixed with milk&yoghurt in a smoothie)
Steak (once a fortnight)

I'd appreciate your views and if you think I should supplements, can you suggest any?

Thanks

The answer is simple. Real quality whole foods is the best thing you can take for growing and bodybuilding. A supplement is only a supplement for a lacking/poor diet.

You'll grow far better spending money on whole foods than spending money on just supplements. I would suggest a multi-vitamin regardless but if your diet is keen, you can forget about protein powders and all that.

Now creatine and other strength/endurance enhancers, take them at a later date for when you'll need them. Getting back into the gym, you have alot of climbing to do again. Once your back and your not gaining much (mass & strength) then resort to those type of supplements.

Bottom line, get your diet back in-check, life and eat hard then get ample amounts of sleepy. Include a multi-vitamin and MAYBE, MAYBE, whey protein depending on your diet.
