Default Creatine in the morning? And mixing with Whey shake?

My diet thread got some comments and Virus suggested that I may be taking too much creatine (I haven't actually started it yet, it hasn't arrived). I was planning on taking 5g in the morning with breakfast, then 5g before my workout and 5g after my workout.

Reading the "When to take your supps" thread, it says to take creatine before and after your WO, so I'm guessing I have this part right - but is taking another 5g in the morning ok to do as well? I work out in the afternoon. I'm guessing this is the extra amount that Virus is talking about that I probably don't need. I've heard quite a few people talk about taking creatine in the morning and thought is was the norm.

Also, is there anything wrong with mixing your creatine with your whey shake? I plan on making my whey shake a couple of hours prior (or even the night before) and then just before I drink it adding the creatine. Is this ok?

It sounds like you are loading the creatine which is not necessary.

Taking it in the morning is ok but I feel the best time to take creatine is after a workout. Taking creatine after a workout will help replenish your creatine phosphate levels, your body absorbs nutrients the best after a workout, and the insulin spike from your post workout shake or meal will drive the creatine in your cells better.

As for mixing it with whey, that is fine.

Oh, and 5 grams post workout is a good dosage.
