I only take my whey once n that's after workout. I have always taken scoop n half to scoop n 3/4's. Now taking anything over 60g's protein at one time, then I would guess your body wouldn't be able to utilize all of it.
Good question though.

I had read somewhere that your body couldn't process more than 40 grams of protein in a two hour period and I was afraid of wasting my money, that stuff isn't cheap. That's what I was basing my opinion on. Isn't everything written on the internet true?

to answer your question, let me ask this, why are you taking whey protein.
Remember children, whey protein is a supplement. A supplement is something you take when you can not get enough real food into your body. If you are not eating right, then you probably need a supplement. When you take protein, you are telling your body that you are too dam lazy to eat some good food. Your body may or may not respond to your lazy a$$ comsumption of whey.

I try not to use supplements/Whey protein for anything more than an easy and quick way to get protein into my body. I ONLY drink it when I first get up and again immediately after my workout.

I've been using ON for about 6 months now and its really great. Mixes easy and tastes great. I drink one in the morning with a breakfast bar to get my going and then one in the afternoon sometime prior to my workout. That is ~40g of protein from that.
At night before bed, I drink a serving of Probolic-SR 12-Hour Muscle Feeder which has ~17g protein; however, its best quality is its wealthy inclusion of AAs including L-Arganine and L-Glutamine. However, as others have said, do you best to eat as much protein as possible through your diet! I'm a bigger guy and its hard to eat enough protein products without supplementing. By yourself a couple of bags of grilled chicken breasts. You can usually get like 8 for 8 bucks at the grocery store. They taste great, are low calorie and fat, and have about 20-25g protein in them. This should help you reach higher on your protein count. |
