Default Morning meal question

I get up and shower and shave and do my thing. Then I go make breakfast...

I have read in here that drinking a protein shake in water first thing is important.
For breakfast, I like oatmeal too, with apricots and almonds... and milk to thicken it. I also take my vitamin at this time.

So...
Protein shake in water
Oatmeal with apricots and almonds, thickened by fat-free milk
Vitamin

How can I do this differently to maximize my morning meal? Am I doing it fine?

I was thinking that maybe I should go make my protein shake before I take me shower and get ready, that way I have 15-20 minutes of it in my system before I eat the oatmeal. Good plan?

I'd use water instead of the milk, as you want the digestion of the Whey to be as rapid as possible and Milk slows this process down to a great degree.

Other than that, I'd have it ready for 1st thing too, much better.

AS for myself, I cook up a 1/2 cup of oats the night before and then blend them in with 16 ounces of water and 24-48 grams of whey and stick it in the fridge and when I wake up it's the first thing I do ~ chug it!

I DO use water in my protein shakes. The only milk I drink anymore is in my oatmeal and sometimes for dinner.

I thought that it was a bad idea to mix your protein shake and let it sit for hours before drinking. I guess that sounds kinda silly now that I am thinking about it... protein shakes in a can. Do you make the oatmeal with water too? That seems like a real thick shake!

Yeah, I make the oatmeal with water.
The stuff you cant let sit in liquid is creatine, it will turn into the waste product creatinine if left in liquid too long.

It's not real thick really as 16-18 ounces of water mixes it up just enough to make it a liquid. Get a hand mixer and blend all that stuff up.

Does cooking the Oats do anything more then just make it blend better?

I just toss my oats into a blender or a coffee grinder and once its nice a ground down i toss it in with the shake...

Does cooking help with digestion or something maybe?

You guys should start being more creative and make up some healthy Porridge, chuck in some blueberries or whatever you fancy as long as its not a ton of sugar obviously, do you really enjoy chugging down oats and whey Tommy boy? Lifes too damn short in my opinion.

Get rid of the protein shakes which are packed full of cheap nasties that your body could do without, have oats with a low fat natural yogurt and fruit.

Eggs are the best thing to gobble up in the morning. Even if you just eat them raw (minus the shell) haha.

I scramble em'.

What I eat for breakfast when I get up (which is usually 3-4pm since I work 3rd) is scrambled eggs mixed with hash browns, oatmeal, milk, juice. Good stuff!

I feel breakfast should be one if not the biggest meal of your day. Got to eat after sleeping all that time.

Take they whey+water first right when you wake up. A question here, is are fast/slow carbs necessary here? In 20 minutes we're eating anyway right?

THEN, take your shower, shave, etc. After that, eat a nice big meal.

Personally, I love eggs in the morning. Fried with olive oil or scrambled, between some toasted flax/whole wheat bread. I drink milk or OJ, depending on mood. And for bigger days, I throw in some yogurt too. 3 hours later Im eating again.
