Everyone is different. However, a protein shake should not be your only breakfast, it is not designed as a meal replacement. With that said, I take one before "normal" breakfast, after my workout, and usually one before bed.

You need to understand that whey protein is a SUPPLEMENT, not a replacement. It is designed to fill the gap when you can't get enough real food in. Nothing compares to real food. Period. You need 1-1.5 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight when weight training.

I got the formula down for calculating the protein and I've read that alot. The question is is do you take that total amount calculated and have it in one sitting or do you take the total amount throughout the day?

So for me it would be 185 lbs x 1.5 = 277.5

Most optimal time is right after lifting. All other shakes depend on your diet. I'd go as far as to say you don't need shakes AT ALL if you're diet is good.

I cant even remember when I last had a protein shake...
I stopped wasting my money on whey along time ago.
It's not really needed if you have a diet with sufficient protein

But just so you know: Whey is most optimal as a fast digesting protein for POST WORKOUT

I like using whey powder to make high calorie shakes. Sometimes, not much time as passed since I've eaten and I'm just looking for snack but I'm not hungry for solid food; not sure if that makes sense to you all. Either way, whey protein powder is great PWO.

To answer your question, that 277.5 is total grams taken through out the day. Also, what worked for me was to pick a decent goal weight (say 195) and then calculate the required gr/day of protein. If you are currently 185 and eat to maintain 185 you probably won't see a real big gain in muscle mass. Remember, the more muscle you build, the more calories you will need to maintain it.

Today i bought some whey protein, and it tastes good but i was just wondering if whey usually comes with a scoop i heard it usually does, but i can't find one in my container maybe its just burried...

But anyways about what would you say the average scoop size is for whey? So i can try to get about the right amount. On the container it just says 1-2 Heeping scoops not how many ounces or Tbsp's.

I would prefer answers in tblsp's if possible but i can figure out ounces if thats all you can give me.

Thanks in advance

Try looking for it again - it most probably settled to the bottom during shipping.
