Default Bcaa's

Hey
Ive seen a few threads on here about bcaa's , but mostly just discuss who takes it and how much

Knowing the basics of whey, creatine, glutamine ect, can someone explain what exactly these bcaa's do, and would you say they are as important as whey in a diet

BCAA's are Branched Chain Amino Acids. These are the most crucial when it comes to your muscles. They make up around 35 % of your muscle mass. The 3 BCAA's are.... Leucine, Isoleucine, and Valine.
BCAA's are metabolized in the muscle not the liver like other amino acids. They spare muscle tissue from being used for energy during intense exercise.

Leucine being the most crucial of the 3. Leucine is key to protein synthesis. Leucine is 10 x more potent in protein synthesis than other aminos.

Again, they spare muscle and help with recovery and endurance during training. I can vouch for this especially during my cutting phase now. I feel BCAA's are just as important as whey because they are free-form and will be digested and utilized faster.

most whey shakes have the bcaa's in them

Yes I would buy seperate BCAA's. BCAA supplements are free-form and not bound like in a protein shake meaning you will get much faster absorption of BCAA's using a BCAA supplement vice just using a shake.

And get BCAA's in powder form, its more cost efficient. I personally use Xtend by Scivation.

Been quite a while since I've used these, but as I recall, free-form amino acids should be taken on an empty stomach, or perhaps with a little fruit juice, shouldn't they?

I take my BCAA's with 3g Kre-Alk, 16oz powdered Gatoraid (contains dextrose) and a protien shake post workout.

Flavorless BCAAs taste like pure anus. You can buy them at trueprotien.com though.

BulkNutrition has a bunch of great deals on BCCAs. I got the big tub of powder. Its flavor-less... or should I say, it isn't artificially flavored. It tastes like crap and seems to be water-proof when you try stirring it. I just put a heaping teaspoon in my mouth and wash it down. You just need to suck it up and get used to it.
