All it is is a molecule thats been attached to the creatine molecule during the process of being made.
Your right about the rest. The Ester helps get the creatine that it is attached to into the bloodstream faster which means into your cells faster. A vast improvement over regular creatine and since the delivery is so efficient, loading phases with the newer creatines are obsolete. For greater details you could just google or any search engine. Theres a ton of detailed information out there so no use reinventing the wheel.

Yes, it supposed to improve the absorption of a substance. It is an ester attached to another substance to do this. Creatine being the first I believe to use this and gain popularity. Esters are found in fat tissues.
The reasoning behind it is that creatine uses lipids to penetrate cells and the ester attached to it will help it penetrate easier and better.

the primary effect that esterification has on creatine is reducing acid hydrolysis to creatinine before reaching the plasma.
the same delivery technology is used on valtrex (and other amino based drugs)
