You should be taking it 7 days a week, training or not.
On training days you should take more of it though.

I tend to take 5 gr on off days and 10 on days I train

Yes, as BiggerGuns stated, take it on off days as well. I prefer to take my dosage on non-training days at breakfast.

Dont listen to the manufacturers.
But you CAN take 3 servings a day (15 gr total) if you want to, but I received the same results by taking only 2 servings (10 gr) and 1 on my off days as I did when I took 3. They want you to use it all as fast as possible so they can sell you more that's what that is about.

I hope they didnt also recommend to load it did they? If so, disregard that as there is no need to "load" it, another waste of creatine and more money in their pockets

Just make sure to drink at least 3.78 litres of water per day (1 gallon) and you will be fine. You'd be even further ahead to drink at least 1.5 gallons, the more the better and the less intestinal issues.

If you decide to take 3 servings, I'd take it like this
* First thing upon waking up in the morning
* Right before workout
* Right after workout

But on your off days should only do 2 times then
* First thing upon waking up in the morning
* Maybe in the aftenoon? Between a meal

I just started a new routine and have been on creatine for about 5 weeks (of my last routine). I didn't take any today as I was planning on taking a couple weeks off of it. Is that a good idea, since I'm not going extremely heavy right now or will I lose any weight I've gained since I've been on it (only a couple pounds)?

I cycle it off and on, but some stay on it continously.

I usually take it for like 60 days (8 weeks) and then I'll get off it for like 90 days and keep repeating this cycle.

In order to feel and see the full effects and potential of creatine, it is advised to take it either 8 weeks/12 weeks ON & 4 weeks OFF.
