Huge thread here.. tough reading through the same question asked and answered 10x... <rant off>

I noticed from posts somewhere in the middle that:

1. Regular creatine mono turns to 100% creatinine(useless) in less than 9 mins in water and much faster in an acidic environment.

2. It takes up to an hour for the body to absorb 5g of creatine into the bloodstream.

3. Even if the creatine is taken directly, (taken dry not mixed, then chased with liquid) it will still end up in an incredibly acidic liquid environment. (the stomach)

If these claims are even partially true it is difficult to see how anyone would be able to attain any degree of saturation.. Perhaps the reason some people are seeing significant differences in results using kre-alk vs. mono?

Creatine has always had absorption problems since it came out. The problem with it converting and then people having to take quite a bit of it which some then got unwanted side effects, like cramping, bloating, diarehha, etc. Look at the different delivery methods creatine has had, sugars, liquid form, effervescent, etc.

This is why CEE and now, kre-alkalyn have grown in popularity because of its absoption properties. However, you cannot deny that creatine works. It has been proven for years now how effective it is. Just ask, the majority who have used it, have gotten results.

People have to remember that you cant force a muscle cell in taking in more creatine than its capable of. People forget that. You have a limit of how much creatine a cell can hold.

Its like a 12 oz can can only hold 12 oz, not 16.

OK, since every conceivable question has been answered about different Creatines.. my only question was, "What is the price breakdown for different brands?"

-SciFit- 240cap bottle, 2cap serving, 1.5g Kre-Alkalyn per serving
*$0.25 per 1.5g serving

-SciFit- 500g container, 1.5g kre-alkalyn per serving, (333 servings)
*$0.10 per 1.5g serving

-Higher power- CEE
1000 Gram Container, 2.5 Gram serving (1/2 teaspoon), 400 Servings
*$0.10 per 2.5g serving

-BioCore- "Micronized" Creatine,(monohydrate) 300g container 5g serving, 60 servings
*$0.09 per 5g serving

(I was paying more than twice as much for my creatine mono as the kre-alkalyn here... I found all of these prices using "Froogle")

you could cap your own kre-alklyn for REALLy cheap. all you need is some empty geleton capsules, and a capsule machine, aswell as k-a powder, much cheaper.

The only reason I used the capped version for kre-alk is that I could not find powder any cheaper. If you have a cheaper vendor let us know

[EDIT] actually, nevermind. I found one a lot cheaper.. ill add it to my original numbers.

For absorption purposes, yes, CEE is better.

What are you expecting to get from taking monohydrate? Creatine mostly delivers more endurance in the gym, helps you get in that extra rep and/or bump up the weights and helps you recover great. What more can you want?

No, creatine would not be a waste for someone starting out. It isnt necessary but it can be benefical.I would rather see you buy some whey protein and a multi-vitamin at the beginning. These are more critical.

Also with creating mono, realize that taking one serving just prior to your workout won't do anything. You have to build up your saturation first. (hence the reason for the loading phase on the container)

Hence the reason why Kre-Alk is the best option. You guys will soon get sick of me preaching this but I've tried both mono & Kre-Alk, & the latter is far superior IMO. I don't know why people still buy mono - it's false economy.

Does anyone here ever heard of anyone kidney failing while on creatine/your kidney failed while on it? I only ask because i went to my doctor to see what she thought of it and said it wasn't safe and that she already seen 2 kids kidneys fail while on it...though i couldn't help but feel her opinion of it was bias since she was a girl...I tried to get a 2nd opinion from another doc but didn't. so really i just want to get both sides so i can asses the risk/reward from it.

The reason why the idiots your doctor was talking about might've had kidney failures is because they probably forgot to drink water. People never want to blame themselves for being idiots, they blame everything else.

If someone's kid dies from steroids, the parents blame the steroids.

Maybe you should blame the kid for being a numbskull
