Default waxy maize question

im trying to find a supplier of it in australia and its really hard...i know i can order it from places overseas, but i want to try and get it in australia since its the biggest exportor of the stuff apparently.

is there a difference between 'Modified Maize Starch' and Waxy maize?

doing some checking around and posting stuff that I find

The use of the word "Modified" represents a physical treatment made to the starch to ensure that it can retain its thickening properties throughout the food manufacturing process.

more info to help compare the two

Quote:
With regard to food starch thickeners, the second major event during the 1940s was the
commercialization of waxy maize starch. Waxy maize starch, which contains nearly 100%
amylopectin, has built-in textural stability due to the near absence of the more linear amylose
molecule.

yea. the modification process insures that its stable and better suited for digestion, and as u said, retains its thickening properties....just wondering if the waxy part means its to different for me to take it for PWO.

so you could ask them what percentage of amylopectin is in the modified maize starch...

There may be other differences as well...I've seen other sites state waxy maize has a high molecular weight....

i also thought the fact it does have high molecular weight was why it was good. allowing it and other things to go through the system faster?

Someone could just as easily have said waxy maize increases testosterone too..... I've not seen any technical article other than some joeblow's post in another forum...in regards to the molecular weight...
