Default Flour and sugar in whey protein

Does anyone put sugar and flour in there whey protein drinks? Havn't read anything about this but figured I'd start doing this. What do you all think?

Sounds like a good idea to me, but I'm asking since I've never heard of anyone doing this..

Why?

You're going to end up with sweet tasting glue!

Not a good idea!

Just add your whey to whatever you want to add it to. I don't add things to my Whey! After all, they flavor the Whey. Why would I add more useless cals.?

uncooked flour taste like crap when added to anything? And sugar? there's a reason most people that care about their diet don't drink sodas. if you want to add something to give it a bump in calories and nutrients try berries (frozen or fresh) and cooked oatmeal blended.

because weight gainers hardly have any protein in them for the size of the serving so id run out fast, id rather buy a protein powder and add things to get some more calories and not ****loads of sugar

Sugar for a insulin spike, flour for complex carbs. About 30g of complex carbs from flour, and 25g of sugar.

I dont care about taste buds, I can bairly use them anyhow. And I wouldnt buy a weight gainer since I cant afford that stuff.

BTW, I didnt think it tasted bad, a little sweet... Not much of a fan for sugar.

Flour is highly processed so any Complex Carbs would be by luck. Sugar is just empty calories; again, highly processed. If you want more calories, try oatmeal added to the shake and do as Danimal suggests; add some berries. If you absolutely have to use sugar, buy some RAW, unprocesses sugar but use it sparringly. Stay away from empty calories if at all possible.

How about dextrose?

Is there any differnce between the sugars that are in juices, to unproccessed sugar? Wouldn't I be getting the same empty caleries for the juice I'd be taking to spike my insulin?

Thanks for all the tips guys!

If your are going just for the "spike" quick answer is there is no difference. The best sugars are natural, unrefined sugars or RAW. Fruit is natural, so is unrefined/unprocessed sugar. Your body uses unprocessed food sources better! Make sure the juices you drink are 100% juice and not a 10% solution. More bang for your buck!

All the way at the bottom. Yes, the chart on the right side. I am sure if start another thread, asking the question "Other then oatmeal..." you will get a better response.

Thanks narcsarge, Ill try some berries if I can afford some. Or just go with unproccessed sugar with oats, or maybe granola.

And what do you mean "Flour is highly processed so any Complex Carbs would be by luck." ?

The label reads that there are like 24 grams of carbs, and less then one sugar per 1/4th cup.

Most weight gainers have over 50 grams of protein per serving. Remember, your not necessarily drinking the weightgainer for your protein, but moreso for the extra calories. Add 2 tablespoons of natty pb to your shake. Thats about 200 cals right there, plus some good fat. Yogurt, nuts, oats, wheat germ, etc... Or better yet, just eat a Natty PB&low sugar or sugar free jelly on whole grain bread. Great cheap weight gainer!

Oats, flaxseed oil, peanut butter. All those things have lots of calories and are good for you.

Heres what I like

2 scoops whey
2 cups milk
banana
.5 cup oats
2tbsp natural peanut butter

Its about 1000 calories, 85g protein. 2 of those a day will do you good.

Why not just drink some grape juice for the insulin spike? If you need it quickly, chances are your shake will slow it down with all that other stuff.
