I'm in high school, and i usually eat a pretty decent breakfast. Glass of milk, and a sandwich with egg, ham, and a piece of american cheese.
Lunch is typically a sandwich, bottle of water, some tortilla chips or pretzels, and some type of fruit. Dinner is usually whatever mom makes, but it's almost always pretty healthy. Typically skinless white chicken breast. Now, i bought some 100% ON Whey (vanilla) and i'm wondering when to take it. School starts at 8:30 AM and i have a class called fitness and weight training (basically i get to do whatever i want in the weight room at the school-every kind of machine) at 12:56. I'll be able to lift for about 35 minutes. Afterschool i have cross country practice though, and occasionally we'll be lifting then. So what i want to know is, when should i be taking my whey? |

i'd save teh whey for when u can devote a full workout and take it afterwards..
you could take the whey after both sessions, just carry a lil baggie with a scoop or whatever u use and mix it at school...

Yikes, i tried mixing it with water. That was awful tasting! Milk is definitely the way to go. I had it after a lifting session today, and then i'm going to take one before i go to sleep. I'm playing tennis later today...so we'll see how it goes.
*edit* Would mixing it before school be an option? I think my protein+carbs is good for the morning (ie don't need a shake there) but i wonder if i could mix it and just take it with me in my lunch bottle. It'd be a lot easier to do that then to be mixing stuff at lunch...as people will wonder what that white powder i always have is. Especially if i store it in my locker. Seriously though, our school is really tough on drugs or anything that looks like it. Hell, i'm surprised they let the cooking classes have flour. I could keep it in something that'd stay cold..my lunchbox is certainly insulated enough, plus there's an ice pack inside. Last edited by xtremerunnerars; 08-19-2006 at 10:43 AM. |

Alright, thanks. I experienced that a little today...i had the powder in a cup and poured the milk in. I put the powder+milk away and i put a spoon in and this big white mass floated to the top haha. I just broke it up and stirred away.

Alright, one more question!
School starts tomorrow, and i'm wondering about how to do the whey i'm gunna be having. Would it be better to take it in the morning? In the morning i have my ham+egg sandwich with a glass of milk...so i'm guessing i should take it at night. I don't really have the money (highschool sopohmore) to take whey 3x a day...so two's probably my limit. Cross country afterschool, but weight training about an hour and a half before. Is it safe to mix my whey with milk and then run about an hour later? I don't really think it's a good idea...but i want the whey after my workout, and not after cross country practice. |

do what many ppl do (including me) and just take whey after workout.
you should be relying on your diet for ur protein needs, BUT if u need to include one more shake than yes better to take it in the morning and running an hour later is okay too. Just hope you don't get sick or a lil bloated, but i think you'll be fine going that route.
