GNC 100% Whey Protein
I'm going on a Daniel fast so I picked up a gainer to supplement calories I'll be missing from the meat I won't be eating. It was BOGO 50% at GNC, so I picked up some chocolate whey protein, since I made the mistake of buying vanilla ON and can't take it all the time.
I didn't expect much since the gainer tasted like shat. But the 100% Whey protein is actually very surprising.
First, compared to ON 100% Whey, it actually instantizes a little better than ON. ON stirs well with a spoon but I always had little chunks I had to filter through my teeth and chew at the end. (everyone at once: EWW!)
The GNC brand has almost NO chunks. Literally, almost nothing. This is with water, skim milk, or soy milk.
Obviously, taste is a big factor for all supplement users, especially for a supp that is taken everyday, sometimes more than once per day. This tastes very similar to the ON brand's Double Chocolate. In fact I think it's a little better. It has a little more chocolate taste to it, where OM is a bit more creamier. I would say GNC has a bit of cookie taste to it.
I took it with water and you can almost not notic ethe fact it's water and not milk. This was comforting as I wasn't looking forward to the awful taste of protein in water although I understood the benefits. I used about one and a half scoops and stirred it with a plastic spoon. Tasted fine. In fact I'll probably do it with water more just to save the milk for nighttime stuff or gainer.
At any rate, I would probably recommend ON normally, since they are a more reputable brand and everyone raves about the chocolate mint flavor (I couldnt get it in-store.) however, if you buy a GNC product and want to take advantage of a sale, or BOGO, or what have you, then their brand 100% Whey is a very solid choice.
