Yes lots of them have fillers binders, excipents. I take the vita pack. I recently lost trust in GNC as they would not provide me with efficacy to there multiple vitamin. So for 5 months now I switched over to the vita pack and man do I love them. |

I've used the pricey multis before because of their claims of higher uptake ratios (you absorb, like 60% of theirs, and the off-the-shelf brand you only absorb 20%, etc.). Since then I have found absolutley no difference (performance and/or recovery-wise) in just taking the generic/store brand multis and taking two at a time (repeat as needed). It saves a ton of money, and your piss will turn just as neon-orange!
From what I've heard, there are only about 4 companies that actually make vitamins, the rest just buy from them and slap their labels on them. Last edited by Digital Chainsaw; 03-23-2006 at 06:55 PM. |

I take 2 CVS brand SpectraVites a day. one in the morning and one PWO. I dunnno if that helps or is hurting me. Just do it out of habit because i feel i need more nutrients than your average joe, because i lift 6 days a week and do cardio and play hockey etc.
2 a day? too much? what do you guys do/think? |

Yeah, you want to get a multi-vitamin with multiple pills. You need to get a multi-vitamin with higher potencies than Centrum especially since you are doing strenuous physical exercise.

I've jst been taking one from the drugstore! Is that bad? I've also seen those Mega men/women vitamins....maybe I should check those out! I dont think you spend that much more. __________________________________________________ _____________ If you're really concerned, read up a little on vitamin synergy/bioavailability FROM AN INDEPENDENT SOURCE, not just the glossy "informative" brochures next to the display case at GNC (which, of course, always show their product to be superior to every other competitor). Then take the bottle you are currently taking and compare it, side-by-side, with Mega-Super-Ultra Whatever. Keep in mind that no matter how additive-free, synergetic, or bioavailable a multi is (or claims to be), a sizeable percentage of it is going, literally, right down the toilet (the "neon" coloring I spoke of in my last post). And no, taking two of the cheap ones to make up any deficiencies (real, implied, or made up) is not going to hurt you; just give your body (specifically, your liver) a one-day-off-a-week rest from supplements, regardless of what you take and drink plenty of water. If, after all this you feel that it is worth the extra bucks (after 18 years in this game, I personally don't) then by all means, help GNC pay their mall rent. My $0.02 |
