Default How much glucosamine???

For preventative measures, how many mg's of glucasamine are good to take?? I bought Schiff's Glucosamine and they say take 2 caps which is equal to 2,000mg of glucosamine. This seems like an awfully high amount so i figure i'd check to see what i should be taking. Maybe just 1 pill rather than 2??

I don't know for sure, but I would also like to know....I am considering buying some later today actually.

I just grabbed the highest strength ones i could find. I've seen a lot that were just 500mg, so i really don't know. Hopefully someone will have some input.

Try to get some msm, its sulphur dioxide , really good for ligiments, cartilidge, bones, can probally get glucosamine and msm mixed onto 1 pill form now

Umm follow the directions on the bottle , they do still have them i believe, there on the back in lil things called letters, put letters together they make words, words together makes sentences, sentences make up paragraphs

Special tip: The dosage for glucosamine is calculated on body weight: about 900 mg per 100 pounds of body weight. If you weigh more than 200 pounds or take diuretics, consult your doctor about an appropriate dosage, as you may have to take a higher daily dose of the drug than is commonly recommended.

--Glucosamine is often sold in combination formulas for arthritis with the dietary supplement chondroitin sulfate.

# For all types of arthritis and joint-related conditions: Take 500 mg of glucosamine sulfate three times a day.

# For sprains, strains, and back pain: Take 500 mg of glucosamine sulfate three times a day.

# To protect against aging-related ailments: Take 500 mg of glucosamine sulfate twice a day.

Guidelines for Use

Glucosamine is also commonly combined with other anti-arthritis supplements such as boswellia (a tree extract), sea cucumber, and cayenne (or capsaicin) ointment.

# Glucosamine supplements can safely be combined with conventional pain relievers such as acetaminophen and aspirin.

^^thanks, thats what i was looking for. Directions on the back just say to take 2 caps. I could have bought the 500mg bottle which also says take 2 caps.

SAMe is great but EXTREMELY expensive especially at the effective doses....think I will buy some Glucosamine tonight. I have recently added weighted lunges into my leg routine and I don't want any problems seeing as how there is alot of extra stress placed on the knees.

samE is great your right, but yes too expensive, theres other thigns at my health food store id buy before that

I took it for a while, but you have to take alot and one box only has like a weeks worth in it...the bioavailability is low too...
