Default ON Whey Protein

I orginally posted this in the wrong forum (sorry i'm new here) so i am reposting it here.

Can i get some suggestions on to mix ON 100% Whey with. I am currently using the Vanilla Ice Cream flavor and mixing it with soy milk. I drink it but i have to say i dont enjoy it. I will drink it even if it tastes like crap but i would rather make it taste good too. not sure what it is that i dont like. the soy milk, the vanilla flavor or a combination of both. just looking for some suggestions. thanks

In my opinion soy milk tastes a little nasty. I mix mine with water, faster absorption....I think the taste is fine, but then again i chugh down pure CEE twice a day, so I think my taste buds prefer anything to CEE. Try water, it will get into your system quicker...the taste, well, that takes the back seat, in my opinion. But if all else fails, try regular milk, surely tastier than soy.

my gym makes shakes and they taste awesome. only problem is they use appex brand and from what ppl on here tell me appex is no good. i agree the taste takes a back seat and I will definetly still drink it ON even though i hate the taste. but i would rather make it taste good too.

if you are taking the shake post-workout, you dont want to mix it with milk. Anbody correct me if I am wrong, but im pretty sure that mixing it with milk slows down teh absorbtion rate, which is the whole point of the post-workout shake. Whey is a fast absorbing protein.

I agree that the vanilla ON tatses like piss with just water. It might sound weird but try mixing it with orange juice. Tastes kinda like an orange julius. Ive also heard that getting simple sugars post-workout is good too so the OJ helps with that.

yep take with H2O post work and IF you're not useing a cassien protien before bed then you can mix it with milk to slow the absorbtion rate while you sleep. Ofcourse providing you drink a shake prior to bed instead of actual food.

I can see taking it with milk if you're going to wait say 1-2hrs before you eat again but if you eat a meal 30-45 min after PWO shake I don't see a need for it.

well milk gives an insulin response which is what we want after training.

milk provides protein in the form of whey and casein, which has been shown to outperform whey alone

and milk provides carbohydrates in the form of lactose which is composed of 50% glucose & 50% galactose. glucose does muscle glycogen and galactose does liver glycogen. ppl are now starting to look into the importance of keeping the liver fed after training.

some ppl just dont believe it but nothing is set in stone on this issue, we keep learning new things. heck, 15 years ago it was said to take carbs alone 15-30 minutes after training then to take protein alone 45 minutes after training. things evolved and now we know to take protein and carbs. the type of protein and carbs is still being looked at.

Interesting, how many servings of milk do you suggest?

I was told that soy protein raises your estrogen levels. Even if its minimal, thats not good. I am drinking the chocolate ON Whey protein at the moment. I just mix two scoops with 8 oz of water and let it chill in the fridge. Its alright. Its actually pretty good if you mix it with, ice, 8 oz skim milk, a banana, and a tablespoon of peanut butter. Use a blender of course....
