Your body produces 2/3s of the cholesterol you have in your body, while its important to watch it, perhaps you should consider a cholesterol supplement like Red Yeast Rice instead?

The only good red yeast is from UCLA and its only in for clinical studies right now and its not for the public according to my AUNT who is a Medical Doctor. She said they are rapping up the studies with in 2 years. I would wait on that source to lower cholestrol for a few years and remember what UCLA has in there LABS is far more advanced compard to a supplment company so there machines will make the quality higher. Food for though. PM Me if you are really worried. I probably can get you stuff from the doctors office I work at. Let me know. I can't say any names on the board.

Let me know your Cholestrol leveles. It should be close to 200.

What is your HDL and LDL levles as well as your triglyceride levels. I will ask the Doctor and we can figure something out that is safe.

Default lol.. I can't scan..

yoyoman, food cholesterol has little to nothing to do with blood cholesterol.. If u don't believe me, I'll scan my book(s) for you.

1. From "Human Anatomy and Physiology" by Elaine N. Marieb

2. From "Nutrition Concepts and Controversies" by Frances Sizer

3. From "Food & Nutrition" by Editors of Prevention Magazine

------ so even if I take Super Kosher's super-duper ultra low cholesterol estrogen-producing soy protein, that won't really matter if my saturated fat is high..

Rushi, you are right. The food cholesterol doesnt directly affect your body's cholesterol levels. The cholesterol your body produces is the most difficult to get rid of.

"dietary cholesterol makes a smaller contribution [than saturated fats]...moderation, not elimination, is key when it comes to cholesterol-containing foods."

Do not falsely conclude that you can eat more than the RDA recommended 300mg without consequence. Especially since many foods high in cholesterol are also high in saturated fats.

Read more at www.usda.gov.

Here is an article from that site:

Default Red Yeast Rice

Red yeast rice has been used in China for centuries to make rice wine, to color and flavor foods such as Peking duck and as a health promoting food. It is prepared by fermenting a type of yeast (Monascus purpureus) over rice. Red yeast rice is a complex product that contains several active ingredients including monacolins. Monacolins act as HMG-CoA inhibitors. HMG-CoA reductase is an enzyme that helps make cholesterol. By blocking its cholesterol producing action, the natural compounds in red yeast rice can help you maintain cholesterol levels that are within the normal range. A double blind clinical trial using red yeast rice and placebo with 80 human subjects was conducted at UCLA. After eight weeks with no changes in diet composition the group taking red yeast rice maintained healthy cholesterol levels.
