i dont say sh$t but i really want to....there is this guy who is about 6'4" who lifts "decent" weight for most ppl.....problem is that no matter what lift he is doing he only lifts it in a range of about 1.5" (not even an exaggeration)....if he isnt lifting he is pulling his shirt up and looking at his abs or flexing his biceps in the mirror.....he also walks around muttering to himself and if you get off of a bench or a stack he has no problem stealing your bench without asking....
i saw the same guy last summer playing bball by himself....he ran up and dunked the ball and then turned around put his arms in the air and yelled at a passing car as if he just put one down on shaq

I'd like to say I'm not there to judge but let's be honest I get some great laughs at the expense of others. I chalk it up that when I was fresh to the gym I'm sure I made some seasoned gym rat's day with the dumb crap I probably did.
The only time I say something is if what they're doing could get someone else hurt, I don't give a crap if they hurt themselves. Last edited by Anticor; 08-24-2009 at 06:57 AM. Reason: their != they're, there, etc... |

I just enjoy them. Usually, they're the ones that ask me what they should do. I've learned that they're just looking for affirmation that what they're doing is right, and one out of ten is actually looking to learn something.
I have guys ask me "How do you get huge?" I tell them what I think. They say "Well, what if I did this?" I say why that probably isn't the best approach. Then they say "Ok, my buddy did this." This goes on and on until I just lose patience and tell them "Do whatever man, you asked me." I don't think there's ONE way to skin a cat, but just doing anything under the son isn't going to work magic. I was a skinny guy once, so I've been there. There's a difference between a guy that has always been big and someone who actually "GOT" big. Then I see them doing ab work for 30 minutes. lol

I'm not a big guy so I guess that's why when I tell the idiots "Dude, you're curling with maybe 4 inches ROM and you're swinging. You should lower the weight and do this" and show them, they tend to ignore me or act interested and do what they want anyways. I've finally stopped telling people when they're doing something stupid unless it's likely to hurt them or someone else. (Guy was doing squats with 225 the other day and rounding too much so I told him about it, he told me to basically buzz off until I walked over and cranked out 10 reps with good form and told him to do it while watching himself in the mirror, btw my legs are sore as hell from that now but I guess I had little guy syndrome and wanted to show this punk what was up.)

I saw a guy on the incline bench once, and he was telling his spotter "I'm gonna come up pretty high off the bench, but that's just how I do it."
He then proceeded to do a set with his back so far off the bench that it was almost parallel with the ground...I mean what's the point? I saw him do that for a few weeks after that, and then I didn't see him at the gym. I like to imagine that he's paralyzed now. I had some humiliating noob moments when I started out, though. I think the worst was when I was doing incline barbell presses, and I got stuck. Well, I had the brilliant idea to dump one side of the weight, which caused it to snap back in the other direction, giving me a sprained wrist. Oops. |

The only time I am bothered by the morons is when they try to mirror the weight I am doing on a particular exercise by cutting form-corners. I almost burst out laughing the other day when some bloke doing quarter-depth db shoulder press stared me down after pumping out the same weight as me with alot of help from his homo-buddy-spotter.

I have a lot of college and high school kids at my gym (bieng Fresno state is here, but you would think they have gyms at the college) and I always end up waiting at some point for some dillweed to stop talking to some chick or texting on his phone so can get the equipment. After all these years in the gym, I still have not ever had a call so important that I was waiting for to justify taking my phone onto the floor with me as I lift.

You have that aspect and then you also have the fact that every other fvcker with a pump thinks he's the baddest dude on the planet. Dudes like that need a real beatdown to bring them back down to reality. I have said it a million times, so here's one million and one times now, this is why I am glad I have a home set up and dont have to deal with these fvckers. But every few months I'll go train with my cousins at their gym and deal with this every time, every 160 lbr thinks he's the man. |

ive never said anything and i could care less about any random persons health but it does irritate me on a personal level when i work my ass off to move up weight with perfect form and the douche bag next to me is doing more/a little less/the same weight weight with horrible form thinking theyre strong.
