Creatine supplies are turned into Adenosine triphosphate. ATP is the fuel source for you cells. When you need quick energy that will last for a very short time, ATP is it. Supplementing w/ Creatine will fill your cells to their max absorbtion of ATP and help to refill the cells after exercise. The whole process is a bit more complex then I have described. Basicly, Creatine is a cell volumizer that works (to varying degrees) differently for different people. Will Creatine help you gain weight? Maybe a little but not like a good diet.

Spot on.

ATP is first used in your muscles when you do any kind of exercise. There is a very short, very effective conversion that takes place that leaves only creatinine as a side effect, so your cells use that energy first. Since ATP reserves are short, ATP gets used in short burst exercises like lifting. There is also a very short process to go from ADP back to ATP to replenish supplies. I managed to find a number online and in a normal person estimates like 160kg of ATP being made/converted a day in your body daily.

When the cell runs our of ATP it resorts to less effective means of energy through something called the Krebs cycle. That is just the conversion of carbs proteins and fats into energy.

More info on ATP can be found by looking up hydrolysis of ATP; the reaction where our bodies get energy from ATP.

The presence of a high amount of creatine allows for ADP to be converted to ATP more readily and keep ATP levels high in cell in conjunction with phosphocreatine through a process called creatine kinase.

It's actually pretty interesting. Creatine gets converted to ATP, ATP gets used and turned to ADP. Phosphocreatines convert ADP to ATP and the byproduct is creatine. When phosphocreatine breaks down it leaves creatinine. Since high creatine level cause this cycle to happen more often, there are high levels of creatinine in your blood which some doctors can mistake for a kidney problem while taking creatine.
