Find a balance- if you're dead set on living like a bodybuilder then you're really not going to be living much at all.
It's really not hard to find the time in the day to go to the gym, and to eat several meals a day. It doesn't have to become the sole object of your life. If it does then that's pretty sad. Especially if you're still young, and judging by the way you spelt discipline I'd think you're pretty damn young.

get a full length mirror.
as you see results, you'll stay motivated to keep going. if you slip up, you'll notice it and you'll feel like a piece of s###, which'll make you work harder and focus (either that or feel hopeless and drop it altogether, but let's keep that thought buried somewhere ok

Because when I look around and see only 10 or 15 other people in the gym, I know I'm doing something most people can't (or won't, rather). When it becomes routine then everything becomes easier. For it to become routine, you have to do it consistently. It took some time, but I find it very very easy to watch my diet when I want to.

Set your overall goal you want
* then shoot for short term goals leading up to that and keep both that and anything moving in the back of your head to push you along the way, stay close to the forums and dont tempt yourself in going around your mates that like to go to mcd's as you sit and watch them. (note: enjoy going out but dont let them trick you into thinking 1 bigmac a week or 2 is gonna hurt you even if it doesnt the metal thought of it sometime might kill ya it did to me when i was younger trying to stay on a diet ) cheat meal now and again is great imo no ones perfect ----LeRoy --OverCome |

You have to have the end in mind. Snapshots of weightlifting make sense to give up. Once you're tired of going to the gym and getting little or no results you'll give your diet your full attention, or give up.

find an emotional reason to stay motivated. i don't mean something that'll make you cry and ****, but something that gets you emotionally involved and slightly irrational if you may. for example, public embarrassment, extreme disappointment, stuff like that. things that trigger an emotional (sometimes, angst-filled) response. my "emotional trigger" always helps me force out a few more reps.
here's a quote by socrates that you can use of you want, "...what a disgrace it would be for a man to grow old without ever seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable". |
