very faint grunt. More of biting my teeth and making really ugly faces when i deadlift and squat.

I train at home cause i'm pretty loud. On bench and squats I sound like a train that got derailed and smashed into an atom bomb.
I think it makes a difference too, both physical and mental cause I know in school when I use to hear people grunt I always knew they were giving it they're all and was pushing themselves. That to me is what it's a sign of.

Most of the time when I grunt it's when I have been holding my breath for too long, and it gets me breathing again, so it's a good thing as far as I'm concerned.
I always grunt playing tennis, because it's the in thing to do

I grunt from time to time...swear from time to time...and talk to myself quite frequently, and have even dropped/clanged the bar a bit from time to time. It doesn't matter the days I train at home. Most of the guys at the gym are used to me now. They just smile since I'm the only woman there that makes any noise for the most part...if I grunt or swear it usually means I just pushed myself beyond my usual limits.

I grunt when playing tennis...like when I serve, I think it helps...I hit harder.
Also on my killer backhand If I am lifting heavy weight I'll make a noise on the last rep or something, usually it is more like a wimper.

We can all produce our own sound to increase mental and physical focus , I have to have music on to drown out my grunts . I`m yet to go down my local gym as i have my weights at home but i know early next year i will have to go to a gym as my weight bench cannot cater for the amount of weights i need , so i`m sure i`m going to upset someone |

There was this guy squatting in the gym with 200 kilos (440lbs), he was squatting with like 2 inches of ROM with someone SPOTTING him and he was screaming his head off with every rep. People like that need to be shot.

I never really grunt... i do more of a hissing or a heavy exhale...never bothers me when others grunt unless it is some retard who is grunting on his first rep in a ten rep set...then its just fake and doesnt count

So far, most of us on here grunt to some extent. I too tend to grunt on heavy sets. That or I exhale like a steam pipe just blew up. It pissed me off that my old "soccer mom/ Metro gym" was of the "Das gruntin' es Verboten" so as to maintain the "family friendly" atmosphere. I don't know about you, but if was deadlifting my max, or benching a new PR a grunt was sure to be included. So it seems that grunting has it's place, not be taken to extreme just for courtesy sake, but to lose one's membership? Hence another reason I am glad to have left my old gym...

Yep - louder at home though.....and never really thought about why. I know that I was loud in the gym this AM doing legs though cause two dudes were staring at me. Either that or they "liked" me.
