I hope he has a flexible chest cavity as I can easily see a crushed sterum happening right there before our eyes....

You could tell he was having problems though from the minute he had to re-rack the weight.

It has. Still a good reminder of what can happen. When I first started working out senior year of high school, I was declining 205 and it collapsed off my chin to my chest, and then my neck. My hands never slipped, just the muscles completely gave out. My spotter/buddy was watching an aerobics instructor at the time I had a little scrap on my chin, and my neck was kinda sore. I never did decline again.

YouTube is blocked from my work, so was first time I saw it.

I have recounted this story before, but since we are on topic, I'll recount it briefly once more.

My cousin lifted everyday with his best friend in high school.
One day my cousin left early and his buddy stayed liftng in his garage.
The next day, his friend never picked him up for school as he normally did. So my cousin walked over to his house to find the garage door still cracked open and a light peering through. He opened the garage and found his frend dead. He was still laying on the bench and had the bar on his neck and he was dead! Apparently he dropped the bar on his neck and it killed him.

My cousin lost his best friend and was never the same again because he blamed himself for his friends death as he wasnt there to spot him as he left early. He went from straight A student with a full ride scholarship for football to drug addict and now in jail for bank robbery.

Dang BG, that's a tough one. Makes you wonder about ghetto lifting. I lift in the garage, but if you drop a bar on your throat nothing is gonna help that.

This also shows how NOT to spot a bench press. Your spotters hands should be under the bar at all times, and never more than an inch away.

anyone know what happened to the guy? I would never bench like that. I watched it about 5 times now to see how much it was, 295 lb?
