Default My genetics = poop

So I have been lifting SOLID for 2 months now with over 1 month of a really good program going. (I had been lifting for several months prior to that even, but I wasnt following a good diet or a good program)

What have I gained muscle wise? I wouldnt know cause I can hardly tell a difference! On most exercises I can move more and more weight, especially leg and back exercises. On deadlifts I have blasted from less than 2 plates to almost 3 plates in a little over a month, and my grip is still holding out (I did 240+ the bar last time, should be at 250+bar next time, 20lbs shy of 3 plates) and I stopped doing squats on the smith and started doing them for real. Dropped down in weight but actually probably not really since the bar on the smith weighs virtually nothing and the real 7ft bar actually weighs something. I had been doing 175 on the smith with squats, down to 160+bar off the smith but my squats have been consistently improving. Plus they are easier off the smith I have found since the motion is more natural.

On virtually every lift I have seen really nice improvement over the last few weeks. I can move more weight (except chest exercises, where I am very inconsistent. One week I might be able to move 1 amount for certain reps, and the next I might be struggling with 10-15 lbs less on the same number of reps) than I had been moving when I started the program. So why is it that I have not really noticed any real size increases? I have seen member pics out there of people moving less weight than me, and people in the gym moving less weight than me and they look ALOT more muscular than I do. My arms still look very skinny and my biceps are not nearly as awesome as I would like. And my chest, blah. I dont even want to talk about that.

So why can I get stronger but I cant get anywhere near as muscular looking as these other guys? Is there anything I can do to change that, or am I just the type of person that needs to move alot more weight for small changes in physique?

Oh, and I have discovered that I am really not that hard of a gainer if I really try. But then, if you eat enough anyone could get around that.

And to be honest, I think the creadrive has filled me out more than the lifting has since I started taking it.

Don't expect a damned miracle. Two months isn't very long.

How tall are you?

Tall dudes have it alot harder than the shorter mongrils such as myself.

Also what you're eating has almost 100% to do with it.

2 months? quit your *****ing and get in the gym and lift. quit using cop outs for your lack of training intensity.. i garuantee your pussing out on many of your lifts thats why your not going anywhere.

youve been training 2 months and your already making excuses... grow up. theres always other things you can do other than weight lifting with your attitude... knitting for example.

If you have been lifting for 2 months and can almost dead 3 plates you are doing damn fine. You will probably not see any real muscle size difference for another 4-10 months.

Quite frankly if you have progressed on strength as you note you have incredible genetics. Just remember quality muscle builds very slowly, by that I mean very slowly.

just keep and it and dont dog yourself down.

damn, time to give up... pack your XS gym shirt into storage and contemplate life as a walking runner bean.

if it was so easy we would all be the next potential Mr Olympia.
Work your ass off and stick to it and see the improvement or quit now and wallow in self pity of your 'poor genetics'.

your not even off the starting blocks and your already prime to quit?

Genetics are not important, how you train and what you eat counts far more than genetics ever will, search through the members training logs to see what others are training and gaining.

4-10 months?

Damn so much for me being nice and ripply for summer vacation.

So how does that guy Ellis on skinnyguy.net claim to have gained 32 lbs of muscle and gone from a twig to looking at least decently ripped in only 3 months? Says he gained 32lbs of muscle? Is that even possible in 12 weeks?

32lbs of lean muscle in 3 months just isn't happening, even for a newb.

So after 1 month of proper training, you havent seen huge results? Thats 4 weeks bro. Come back in one year of SOLID training and see if you still say that. 4 weeks is MINISCULE.

No, that is not possible. Now, some people during newb gains may put on 10-15 good pounds over that time, but that is with exceptional training and a perfect diet. Genetics dont mean jack sh^t- you get what you put in.

It'll probably take you around 4-6 months to start seeing results. It depends on how hard you train and what your diet is like more than genetics.

Toronto MoFo's avatar looks like he's a stripper...with the rose in the background and all.

Sorry...Just felt like putting that in there because this thread is a little on the silly side anyway with these crazy expectations and obsurd stories of miraculous gains.

Stop your blood clot crying and keep at it. Genetics sure play a part, but anyone can get strong and have a very good build with sound diet and training regardless of genetics.
