What part of Canada? If your near New Brunswick, then right here in Maine they have Iron Man competitions.....More boxers than anything, but still a lot of classes and sure seems like fun!!!
Oh, and you can order DVD's for the Haganah/F.I.G.H.T. training.....that's what ( I can't remember his name but he was a coach on the Ultimate Fighter 2-I think.....something Franklin ) did, and he can get it done in the octagon.

lol thanks bro ^^. and to wayneferd.. i live in cold lake alberta, 3 hours outside of edmonton whcih is where they hold rage in the cage tournaments, which are really just low-mid grade mma fights.. which will probably be the level i am at in a year.
does anyone ever see that show, "so you wanna fight?" its pro mma athletes that take challenges from random people with no training whatsoever.. and a high school teacher, who won the show, quit his job and is now a pro mma fighter with no previous training but he could fight. i cant recall his name. im not saying that anyone could walk in and do that with zero training but myself after a year ill probably be up to snuff with low grade guys.

I kept thinking "Ben" Franklin once I remembered the last name.....And I think you're thinkin of him, too, kovalay....He was a teacher, bought some videos and a punching bag, and started training himself in his shed with some friends to practice on.....Now he's whoopin ass in the UFC.....He's from Canada and kinda looks like Jim Carey (the comedian)

1-2 years trainning is not much. Fighting average guys on the street is a joke for a real fighter. It is a good thing that you want to get serious so I will give you an honest opinion, defenatley cut weight to 185 and get into wrestling. After you get good I will take you on, because I know you want to fight with me. This forum should have an event where all the members go to and they setup a ring for fighting and we can have a tourney.

dude, i don't know if anyone already said this i had to scroll down past all this... Man, one year is not anywhere near the time it takes to be good at fighting. It takes months of going 3-4 times a week to achieve a black belt. Take that and then see that fighters have multiple black belts in multiple variations, it will take a good couple of years before you are ready man. My friend started about 6 months ago, his dream is to become a UFC fighter, he won't be near ready till he is about 24. Just cause you can fight in hockey has no relativity in an actual cage fight.

dude don't worry about how long it'll take, don't bother with a time scale...do your best at training and you and your coach will know when you're ready for your first fight...
Hey, good luck with it dude

Hey I take back my old comment on braz. J.J. If you learn good wrestling skills you will be cool.. Just make sure you have the wrestling down. YOu are lucky if u have the natural striking skills u claim and will do well with a good wrestling base. I warn you though if you have never lost a fight or gotten beaten on then you are in for a mental test. You will definitely get tossed up by someone you think you can beat but leave that for practice. I can tell you this as someone with some experience who has made it to Cal. state wrestling champs. But hey take advice how u see fit and follow your heart and your strongest skills and you will do as well as those skills will take u.
