I would ask your friend where he got his knowledge of that. Water is good for you, if you are thirsty you should drink some. You dont want to dehydrate yourself or your muslces. Many supplements are taken with water and some like creatine bring water into your muscles. As for after, water is just as important. Its important to take a protein shake immediately after working out, and those are taken with water.

But im no expert, so like i said, ask your friend where he got it. But ill say right now, it would take some pretty spectacular research to get me to say otherwise.

As for the cardio, it wont reduce your muscles. Its good for your heart and overall health.

you can try using some BCAAs with about 15 g of whey and water.....

the BCAAs i use are grape flavored powder so i mix that with water and i get a grape tasting gatorade...the whey i use is vanilla so it's refreshing...

if not.....

I agree...don't be so harsh.

Mo3taz your friend is very incorrect. He is probably basing this on some myth he heard about cramping or something. Water is important to have on hand during exercise of any kind.

Yes, that is bad advice. I always fill up my 64 oz. water jug before I start my workout. You need water.

I always use at least 3.5L of water when I workout. I know alot of hockey players etc... that say its bad to consume alot of water while playing or practicing, due to slowing you down or whatever that rule is but it most certainly does not apply to bodybuilding.

I can categorically say your friend is an idiot. I would like to know where he got that advice from and what reason there are for it.

Without water, your muscles will become dehydrated. Muscle movement depends on how hydrated you are, so if they are dry, they will not work as well. As a result, your workout will not be as productive as you would like.
Performance will be affected due to your thirst, you may become dizzy or sickly without water. The reasons for are infinite.
