Default Arm Wrestling

Yeah i know how immature and possibly dangerous, but come on who hasnt enjoyed that feeling when you slam the other guys hand to the table.

So i was wondering me being in school and all, what would be the main muslces involved in an arm wrestle. Forearms, biceps triceps and maybe even shoulders and chest???

Is there any good exercises you all can think of. its just a general curiosity and the fact that i used to be able to beat my friends all easy but i almost lost yesterday and the guy doesnt work out or anything and i have gained in strength. so seeing as i have hurt my leg and will be taking a small break before a big bulk. i thought id do some " arm wrestling training!" lol sad as it sounds. just an idea to break up the routine. feed back would be gr8, not vital but be good to see what everyone comes up with

i know this will be mentioned so ill save you teh bother. yes i know people have been hurt armwrestling i have seen it happen but stil...

Become a labourer and train.

When you go up town about 5 minutes from where I live to all the pubs and clubs its the labourers that only train there upper body and lift heavy curb stones etc all day all always win.

P.S. I am in no way saying you should do this just to be good at arm wrestles

Try www.armsport.com I've got a friend who is an aspiring pro armwrestler. I'm told there is way more technique than strength involved, but obviously strenth comes into play. We built a table with grips and pads this past summer for about 10 bucks using scrap 2x4's and an old table top, and he got a commercially available table off the internet for christmas. Travis Bagent made over 170,000 big ones last year arm wrestling.

The number one trick to arm wrestling is getting your opponents arm away from their body. I used to beat kids much bigger then me simply because right at the start i pulled hard at a diagonal and got them out of thier area of strength.

Thumbs up

Okay this is the trick. Keep your hand close to your shoulder and face. Put as much shoulder as you can into it and push off. Myself and a friend nicknamed RickRock used this technique throughout high school and almost never lost. The real trick is to get your shoulder involved. If you've seen how someone arm wrestles and doesn't use his shoulder you got'em. So front delts is what you really want to use to win. Its all about leverage, but muscle never hurt anybody. Oh and never lean back that'll kill you. Stay close to your chin and to prevent cheating on both sides, the empty hands should be together underneath in and X. If you use this method let us all know how well you did and how much money you won. Ha Ha Ha

damaged my tendon 2 different times arm wrestling, but only because they were weak to begin with, my own fault

i used to get beat by my brother, but it was only the form that was stopping me, i watched stallones arm wrestling film 'over the top' - soon as id seen that i had another go an put him down in 6 seconds - the basic idea is that you shouldnt try push them to the side, but just try straighten out the arm, when the arms straight, an yours aint, your about to win

lol this is great i thought id get told to grow up for posting this. That shoulder tip works great i was already told that. another tip for if you playing someone of near equal strength or stronger is to try to match them and if possible move your hand so your just a head. dont try and beat them straight out cuz chances are youl tire faster. but if u can get their hand a fraction lower straight off it means they have to work against you just to be bak onto even terms which can be really hard and it means you can engage your shoulder more.
