Default Is it possible to get this built without steroids

if so how many years of dedicated training and proper dieting would it take to achieve results like this if you are new to lifting and are starting with an average frame 6ft, 180lbs, 20% body fat.

Like the others said, time is not relevant, it is the dedication You have about 2 years of gaining and losing while you learn how to diet and workout right, so you will have the ups and downs.

In general, you need somewhere between 2 to 6 years to be in that shape depending on your dedication, diet, workout, rest, genetics,...etc.

And mind you thats 2 to 6 years of consistant training with minimal missed workouts. 2-6 years of on and off training isnt going to get you there.

that guy looks to be 200lbs at most, if hes 6 foot or so..some could do that in 6 months, some 5 years - it depends on your genes, knowledge, what your willing to go through etc

Thanks for the replys, so it looks like 5 or 6 years ,if your not a genetic freak, of complete dedication huh. Just thought I'd throw it out there, to me that pic is probably as good as it gets.

That's very dooable...

His body fat is very low... But he's really not all that big muscular wise (well he's got fairly buff mid section ). Definately in great shape, and damn I wish I had my fat shaved to that degree.. but this is very very attainable.

Yeah, his arms don't really look all that big, his obliques are pretty wicked though.

most guys can attain those 15" guns in a long summer He really has no size, just very low bf. The only exercise this looks like he's done were situps. I bet his legs are as big as his arms.

the position hes in makes him look smaller than he is, he has fairly large pecs and probably a decent size back as his traps are showing - also his arms are bigger than 15"..and theres no way he got those abs and obs from just doing sit-ups, probably doesnt do sit-ups because they damage the hip flexors more than they work the abs - most people couldnt get to that over the summer - actually most people wont get to that in there whole life

I'm sorry, I just don't see the traps.. and if his back was more defined, where are the lats? None there either. The chest is flat, no size on it. The arms may be more than 15, but they are not close to 18". I'm not saying the look is bad, it's impressive, if that's what you want. ..I just want more

Personally I "think" the guy in the pic has achieved his physique with hard work, dedication, discipline, correct nutrition/supplements without steroids. He looks very "natural" to me.

Whats the best way to work your obs. At the moment all I see is ribs.
I tried doing dumbell side bends and just sitting on my ass, legs in the air while holding a plate and moving it from side to side, and I feel no soreness in that area? I think I'm going to try hanging from a pull up bar and doing leg raises with a twist motion next, see if I can get some pain in that area...

lol it's funny to read people slagging off this blokes physique. I think it looks pretty impressive, he has clearly worked hard and has got himself ripped to shreds. It's much harder than you think to get that way certainly not attainable in six months.
I reckon a lot of people on this board would give their right leg to look that way lol

its just the position hes in, that pose makes him look small, its probably been done for a reason, it especially makes the lats look small - if anybody has seen 'pumping iron' you will see lou's dad saying you should have done a such a such, an then lou goes 'no, your wrong, see, goes to nothing' and he does a pose much like that one

obs exercises, theres a couple of good ones - wood choppers, and side bends

side bends are simple - get a db, and keep your body inline as far as from a side view (not leaning forward or back), bend down to the side, aim for the db to go just past the knee, keep your legs straight - raise it back up an thats a rep - great exercise

wood choppers are much harder to get right, more of an advanced exercise - using a high pulley, what you basically do is sorta like swinging a golf club, or chopping wood (hence the name) - the idea is to keep your arms straight an twist the body as you swing/chop, using the obs - if done right, its another great exercise
