I know it depends on how bad the stretch marks are,Like losing an excessive amount of weight then a tummy tuck will be the only possible solution,I started lifting a couple of years ago when I was young 17,I knew nothing about stretch marks except most women get them during pregnancy,So I saved up for a few months,Saw an ad for a MultiGym,I got it for £300 when it should have been around 700 at the time. After a few months I got them on the Inside of Both Arms & Inside Both Thighs. So it really messed me up, I contacted a few places only to be told there was nothing that could be done about them.So I slowly resigned myself to the fact that there was nothing I could do,2 Years went by & I started seeing a girl who worked in a Beauty Salon,So when I was in tp pick her up one night,She was with someone,I was having a browse of their possible treatments & noticed a poster of a new treatment they were offering called Futur-Tec, So I booked a course of 10 treatments(got it for half price),started 2 treatments per week(Mon,Fri),Almost 6 months later all the marks had disappeared by around 60%,We split up shortly after,So I wasn't getting anymore deals from them,I contacted the company to see if they had any reconditioned machines, only to be told they only sell brand new machines (£7500) which I couldn't afford,So I saved up for around 8 months & bought my self a microdermabrasion machine,Started working on myself & while they haven't gone away 100% they are pretty close. So If you can afford it find a beauty salon that offers futur-tec or even microdermabrasion & stick with it for as much as you can afford & you will get results.

For more info on Futur-Tec

http://www.caci-international.co.uk/index_frames.html

When I can afford it I will definitley by myself one of them,Although surely they must have some re-conditioned machines for sale(People that couldn't afford to keep their payment plans up or salons who have gone out of business or whatever,I even have checked ebay for the last year or so & haven't come across any for sale).

Default I have them

I have a lot of little stretch marks. A few years ago I got a new job sitting at a computer, and I starting eating fast food and greasy home cooked meals. I gained like 50 lbs in less than a year. I have small stretch marks all over my belly, chest, and biceps. I have since then lost a majority of that weight and gained a lot of muscle but the marks are still there, they have gotten smaller since my skin is no longer stretched with fat, and they have faded to the point where you can barely see them.

I have noticed that they are less visible if I am tan. I have never tried any creams BUT my wife rubbed her belly with vitamin E cream every day when she was pregnant with our son, she is a very fit woman so she worried about getting them as her belly got bigger. She didn't get a single stretch mark from her pregnancy!

Default Stretch Mark Cure

i got stretch marks. I gained 40lbs in six months and got marks under my shoulders. My dad gave me 0.1% TRETINOIN cream. It is basically Retin-A in a topical cream. Put it on while your marks are still red and it makes your skin produce collagen at a greater rate. Mine are almost gone.
Good Luck

There actually is a way to help get rid of them

Coconut cream! You can buy it at a pharmacy and alot of other stores.
The result varys from person to person though.
For some, it does nothing. For others, it might completely help rid them.
But like i said, it varys from person to person.

I have bad stretch marks on both shoulders, and my chest. I'm wondering how I got them: by lifting heavy (4-6 reps) or my nutrition or both?

While I haven't gotten any new ones in the past 4 years, I'm scared to lift heavy and eat a lot, in fear of new stretch marks.

I am in the same position you are they are annoying to look at but the more you gaing muscle they seem to fade a little they will never entirely go away which is crap but at least they can fade a little.

Default StriVectin

I hear S t r i V e c t i n works really well on stretch marks. Has anyone used it? Not trying to promote anything - just curious if anyone has used it and provide feedback before I blow away $100+ for something that dont work.

I read plenty of reviews on Strivectin, it works great on some and it's useless on others. It's sorta a 50/50 thing.

I have a friend that uses it on her stretch marks on her tummy and fine lines on her face and says she's noticed some fading.

Hope it works for you.

Here are some prevention tips:
Quote:
Selenium also preserves tissue elasticity; slows down the aging and hardening of tissues through oxidation
Quote:
Following the anti-inflammatory lifestyle can help keep stretch marks at bay. Eating adequate amounts of high quality protein can help the skin repair itself. Cold water fish such as wild salmon, trout, halibut, sardines and mackerel are excellent choices, as they are high in anti-inflammatory omega-3 essential fatty acids. Drink plenty of water and make sure that you eat deeply colored fruits and vegetables for their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory properties. I have also found that applying a topical alpha lipoic acid-DMAE combination to areas of the body prone to stretch mark development is very effective.

Zinc works with vitamin A in the production of collagen and elastin and can be found in oily fish, shellfish and wholegrain foods.

Thanks for the info dnyc99. I am going to take a shot at it - the odds are worth it. I currently use cocoa butter w/shea everyday after shower and b4 bed - seeing a bit of improvment.

My biggest problem is that these are mature scars, got them in my teens around 14-15 and I am 24 now :'( and the odds of getting rid of them are against me. Most of it is around my shoulders.

Back then I didnt have the internet to research nor the money to talk to a dermatologist - but my family doc. said I am doomed to have em forever.

I have done some research and found 2 possible treatments for mature scars:
1) Permanent makeup - kinda like tattooing.
2) A new laser that apparently stimulates the process of skin pigmentation to make it appear the same skin tone as the surrounding area.

I dont think either are cheap but I thought i share this with others who are in the same boat as me.

Cheers

Wow...that sounds cool, painful and expensive! Interesting info. tho.

The idea of makeup just came to mind with your post. Maybe some waterproof foundation? You could get a professional makeup artist to mix up a right combination to match your skintone.

For those future stretchmarks (not hoping for more). I think most of it is diet. You can do so much applying creams and all that externally but, through diet you can do much better prevention.

Anyways, hope the Strivectin works well for you Monz and for anyone that uses it. Let us know how it works for you?
