Default Androgel?

Ok so I recently got blood tested because I've been experiencing lack of energy, low libido, erectlie dysfunction, and depression and I'm only 20 years old. So the blood test showed that my testosterone levels are just barely below the minimum "normal" level. So basically, I don't have a severe deficiency. The doc prescribed androgel but seemed ambivalent as to whether i needed it or not. My question is this: if i use the small dose of androgel prescribed, should i expect the negative symptoms that go along with steroid use? I'm confused about this because im not raising my testosterone to an abnormal level but rather to a normal level. And honestly, going bald , getting horrible acne, and having my balls shrink is not worth it to me. If these things are going to happen id rather resort to viagra or something for my sexual problems..Any advice?

20 and having issues? I feel for you man, that's pretty abnormal. First of all how is/was your growth? Did you grow normally?
Is there anything in your life or family history to cause this?
If you start on androgel is not the end of the world and for that small dosage you prob wont have any of the symptoms you worry about.....I'm just curious what triggered your low test levels?
What was the number of test level?

Short anwer is no, because hormone replacement is not using steroids. There are no negative consequences of HRT, only positive. Your balls shrinking can be countered with HCG and any good HRT doc will know and use that in his arsenal. I dont suggest the andrgel though, injections will give you much better and more consistent results.

How did you get low test at 20, was it a result of using steroids or pro hormones previously?

I'm sure what triggered this problem. I'm only 5'8 130 lbs, but I'm not feminine or anything, I mean I have plenty of body hair and I went through puberty and whatnot. So I don't really know what could have caused this. I haven't started any treatment yet because the SECOND time I had my levels tested they were just within the normal range. So the doc wants me to come in once more and get tested again. I've been putting that off after reading a variety of unpleasant things about testosterone side effects.

That sucks bro, but in general taking a "normal" dose of teststosterone will not cause most of the sides you worry about....so lets say 100mg EW of test will put you about in the middle 500-700 or so
I think whats more important is to figure out what is causing your problem......did you have you nuts examined?
If I were you I would ask the doctor to put you on HCG for a few weeks. If you test levels jump up then your nuts are working fine and the issue may be in the pituaitary. Get a scan of the pituitary to make sure and check all hormonal levels including estrogen, ask for a full hormonal panel.
Get your facts straight before you go on HRT because you too young man to have such issues

Partner it sounds like stress in your life that is causing your problems not low test levels (stress plays a major role in low test levels) it causes your body to go catabolic, and this is very negative. have you suffered a loss of a family member or could their be other personal life factors involved, just a thought.

I am a advocate of the use of Sostenon 250 or 200mg test cyp. for hormone therapy. 250mg or 200mg weekly will do wonders, but you must first find the root cause of your problems. I lost my son just over 2 years ago and this has caused me a great deal of stress the nearly killed me! so i feel for you even though i am old enough to be your Dad, I hate to see a young fellow go through this.

God Bless and i hope the best for ya
