Talk to the doc?
OK, so I'm going to go in for the usual checkup, asking for the usual bloodwork (cholest, liver values), and am going to ask the doc to check my test levels as well.
My long-time doc has moved to a new practice in the Virgin Islands (sweet deal, I'd guess), and I'd have talked to him about pretty much anything. Going to a new doc now, one I've never met, and I was wondering..
Do y'all talk frankly with your health care provider about stuff? Now I'm wondering if I had spoken to my own doc about gear (haven't seen the doc since before, so it never came up), if that'd have been a bad idea. Insurance companies are such MFers any more, who knows how they could use it against me to deny benefits or put me on some list, or who knows. Or maybe that's just paranoid talk, and my doctors are just there to help me, and the more complete a picture I can give them of what's going on in my life, the better-equipped they are.. Which is it, you think? Or is it somewhere in between? I'm really concerned/wondering about talking to the new guy. Clearly, I'm not going to come out of the gate with "blah blah blah I do this and this and blah blah.." -- I'd of course get a feel for things first, but..
Thoughts?
