I would be concerned about using Accutane especially when the cycle ends...Severe depression has been a side of Accutane...Could be really severe during PCT...Just a thought.

I used ro-accutane for a while in my teens, i had to have blood tests done to screen my renal functions due to the stress on the kidneys but the drug is a god send.

It is excellent for Acne, but some people experience severe sides (rarely)...I am just concerned with taking it while on a cycle with the extra stress that is already being put on your body...I will post some info...

It's a very rare side from what I have read.. I'll dig something up in a minute.. but some of the sides aren't exactly something to look forward too, but probably better then huge zits.

I. Definition:

Isotretinoin (trade name: Accutane) is a powerful drug used in the treatment of acne. Four to five months of isotretinoin treatment usually leads to clearing of acne for one year or more after the medicine is stopped. Most other acne-controlling medicines are antibacterial agents, which are effective only if the medicine is used daily.

II. Side Effects:

Why shouldn't all acne patients take isotretinoin? Isotretinoin has significant side effects:

Side Effects: Frequency:

Chapped lips 90%
Dry skin and itching 80% - the use of daily alpha hydroxacids will help prevent this side effect.
Dryness of nose, mild nosebleed 80%
Irritation of the eyelids and eyes 40% - Vitamin E 400 IU each day may lessen this side effect.
Joint and muscle pains 15%
Temporary hair thinning 10%
Rash 7%
Intestinal symptoms 5%
Urinary symptoms 5%
Headache 5%
Increased sensitivity to sunburn 5% - the use of daily sunscreen will help prevent this side effect.
Decreased night vision <1%
Depression, thoughts of suicide <1%
Isotretinoin may increase the level of blood fats, sometimes to risky levels. Occasionally it may affect the liver. That's why regular blood tests are necessary when you are taking isotretinoin; these tests must be done when you have fasted for 12 hours (no breakfast), so that the blood fat determinations are reliable. A baseline blood chemistry test is established before patients start isotretinoin.

The most damaging side effect of isotretinoin is serious birth defects if taken during pregnancy. It is critically important for women not to take isotretinoin while pregnant, and not to become pregnant while taking it. Women who are, or expect to be, sexually active while taking isotretinoin must use an effective method of birth control. This usually means oral contraceptive pills and one other additional method of birth control such as a condoms for the male partner. A woman who does get pregnant while on isotretinoin must be prepared to have an abortion and must state this in writing before many physicians will prescribe isotretinoin for her.

A women who has taken Accutane should not get pregnant until one month after stopping the medication. After that time, it's safe to become pregnant. Because the birth defects caused by isotretinoin are so serious, it's important not to share the pills with others.

We don't know whether isotretinoin taken by men can cause birth defects, so it's best not to get a woman pregnant while taking isotretinoin. If she is not using birth control, the man should use a condom.

There are a few reports of patients having decreased night vision after using Accutane. One patient still had problems six months after the drug was stopped. If you experience trouble with your vision while on Accutane, call the office right away.

Some people develop headaches while on Accutane. If you develop a persistent headache while on Accutane, call your physician right away. A persistent headache, which will not go away while on Accutane, can be dangerous and you should stop the medication.

Accutane rarely causes depression and thoughts of suicide. If this were to occur stop the medicine immediately and call your physician.

III. Alternatives

Many people have found tremendous success with natural alternatives such as Acuzine, an all-natural scientific formulation to treat acne and clear your complexion.

IV. How does isotretinoin work?

Isotretinoin decreases the amount of oil produced by the skin's sebaceous (oil) glands. It may be as long as two months before you see improvement in your skin. There's no medicine we can add to speed up isotretinoin's action. In fact, sometimes acne gets worse during the first month or so of treatment. Side effects, such as lip dryness, begin before the acne starts to clear.

V. How To Use Isotretinoin:

Take the medicine with food, you can take the entire daily dose with supper, this increases the absorption of the medicine.

VI. Long-term Results:

Isotretinoin isn't a permanent cure for acne, although it often buys time until nature clears your skin. Your skin may stay clear for months, even years, after isotretinoin is stopped.

In about one person in 10, acne comes back after one year. About one person in four has acne again after two years. If your acne returns, antibiotics may work, or you may be treated with isotretinoin again.

The use of daily alpha hydroxyacids will help prevent small flare-ups after a course of Accutane.

I didn't know this one:

C) DECREASED BODY GROWTH WITH THERAPEUTIC USE
a) CASE REPORT - A 9-year-old boy on isotretinoin 5 mg/kg/day for fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva developed dense metaphyseal bands and growth arrest. After therapy was stopped, normal growth resumed and the metaphyseal bands resolved (Marini et al, 1988

Probably bone related and wouldn't affect someone who was done growing and was only taking it short-term...Still something to think about...

These are more applicable sides (relating to BB'ing)

B) HYPERTHYROIDISM WITH THERAPEUTIC USE

a) CASE REPORT - A 26-year-old male developed thyrotoxicosis while receiving isotretinoin 40 mg daily. Thyroid function returned to normal within 2 months after isotretinoin therapy had been discontinued (Minuk & Jackson, 1986). No other treatment was required

Could be an issue while on T3...

A) SERUM CHOLESTEROL RAISED WITH THERAPEUTIC USE

a) Hypercholesteremia may occur. The degree of elevation in serum cholesterol is directly proportional to dose (Marsden, 1989).

B) HYPERLIPIDEMIA WITH THERAPEUTIC USE

a) Hypertriglyceridemia may be noted with chronic use (Reuter, 1984; Kingston et al, 1983; Windhorst & Nigra, 1982; Farrell et al, 1980; Kemp et al, 1989

A) ACQUIRED MUSCULOSKELETAL DEFORMITY WITH THERAPEUTIC USE

a) Skeletal toxicity is known to occur with isotretinoin doses in excess of 2 mg/kg/day. Doses of 0.5 mg/kg/day did not produce significant, long-term musculoskeletal changes (Carey et al, 1988).

b) Premature closure of the epiphyses in children and hyperostosis with spinal degeneration in adults may be noted with chronic use (DiGiovanna, 2001) Prod Info, 1988).

c) Five of seven patients treated for keratinizing disorders with 3 mg/kg of isotretinoin for three years demonstrated irreversible skeletal hyperostosis and deformity (Pittsley & Yoder, 1983) Yoder, 1983).

B) JOINT PAIN WITH THERAPEUTIC USE

a) CASE SERIES - Bone, joint, or muscle symptoms occurred in 15% of patients receiving a mean daily dose of 109 mg for a mean duration of 150 days (Windhorst & Nigra, 1982).

A) ABNORMAL LABORATORY FINDINGS WITH THERAPEUTIC USE

a) Decreased red cell parameters, decreased white cell counts, increased platelet counts, white cells in urine, and increases in liver function tests were noted in approximately 10% of patients treated with a mean daily dose of 109 mg for a mean duration of 150 days (Windhorst & Nigra, 1982).

Sorry about the novel...

It can effect the kidneys too:

C) ABNORMAL RENAL FUNCTION WITH THERAPEUTIC USE

a) CHRONIC TOXICITY - An elevated serum creatinine level, hematuria, proteinuria, and severe bilateral lumbar pains occurred in a 34-year-old male following long-term isotretinoin therapy. The patient's signs and symptoms resolved within 7 days after cessation of the isotretinoin (Pavese et al, 1997).

Hematuria means pissing blood (If you didn't know)...

Well, thought I'd post an update as to progress so far. Feeling pretty good, almost like I'm "on" already, but for 2 weeks in I know thats not true. 5th injection coming up on Sunday and I'm starting the T3 and HCG. Still hitting the weights hard, but added alot of cardio in to try and lean out more. I was only doing 20 mins a day before so I doubled up on that, plus long power walks at night with the mutts. Trying to keep the diet clean and drink lots of water.

Btw, I am only taking 400 mg of tren a week, I previously posted 500.

Hit 375 on bb flat bench the other day and crushed the 120's on db incline. The max we have is 120's at my gym, so I have to work more on the bb's I guess. Our incline bb press is crap though, the bar sits back too far and you end up lifting with your shoulders to get it up. Bad for the rotators, plus it exhausts you before you even get one rep off.

Haven't checked my body fat for a while, probably still high, weight is between 235 and 245 depending on the day.

My brother went on accutane once, cleared up his zits forever....but man, he went into a depression the entire time he was on it, and he has aggresive rages for no apparent reason, sometimes he just wanted to kill stuff just cause....it makes you face look better, but be careful

Still weighing in at 245, into my 2nd week of the T3 and 4th week of test/tren. Not too worried about my weight right now, but I know I'm looking leaner and have alot more vascularity.
Almost ready to try the 400 lb bench, gotta beat Poobah to it!

Weighed in again yesterday, down to 239, although it was so hot here it was probably just all lost in sweating! Almost halfway through the cycle now, feeling like I could tear telephone books in half right now. My T3 dosage is up to 75 mg / day, peaking next week to 100 mg. Started taking accutane today as well, however I have read that it can take up to 2 months for results. Luckily its not really noticable, mostly on my back and chest, a couple on my face and head.
