Basically...it should help...but it depends on how clean her diet is as well.
Diet, cardio, and lifting...all can work together to bring down weight, but diet in particular can make a difference in how well she loses weight.
Any chance that she'd be interested in using an online program like fitday.com to help her track her diet so that she sees what her macro's are during her 'normal' eating?
I like fitday.com for helping people that just want to look good and be healthy. The program has hints and tips in figuring out your daily caloric needs and macro breakdown.
