Default Shin splints

Anyone here get this problem? Sh!t is fvcking annoying. Especially since I'm just starting up a cutting cycle, and can't run! I haven't been running/jogging really at all up until last week, with the exception of a 5-10 minute warm up... and a lot of times I used the elliptical for that anyways. Maybe I should have worked my way up slowly. Went right away into some fast running on the treadmill... my shins have been killing me. Last week I was able to go for 10 minutes on the treadmill, then had to move on to the elliptical for another 10 because the pain was too much. I guess maybe I should have stopped once I felt pain, but I was brushing it off like it was no big deal, and kept telling myself it was just because I wasn't used to running. Well, yesterday I was hoping the pain would have stopped, within 5 minutes it was hurting again. I gritted my teeth and was able to go 20 minutes (had to stop a couple times) Actually while I was running it got to the point where it almost felt numb, but as soon as I got off and started walking out of the gym it was feelin crazy. I swear I could hardly walk and almost tripped for no reason. I had to sit in my car for almost 5 minutes because I didn't even wanna move my foot to drive. Anyways, I googled shin splints and read about it on webmd... apparently it's a little more serious than I thought. Webmd said it usually takes 3-6 months to heal I'm debating whether or not I should have a doctor look at it, cause I guess it could be a stress fracture. It's just frusturating because I'm trying to cut and can't run... maybe I'll just say fvck and go back to bulking Just wondering if anyone had experience with this and how long it took you to heal. Also... I should still be good to squat right? It doesn't hurt at all when I squat/deadlift.

thanks in advance for any advice.
