Aight...so now that I'm awake after last night's fiasco...

My training is all off kilter this week. All of it...

I get to class last night. It was supposed to be two - 1 hour classes. Regular MA and then broad sword. I'm partnered up working through choke holds when Kate shows up: "My water broke...I'm in labor..." Fawk! I drop everything, tell Amity to finish class and shoot back to Kate's apartment with her. Told her to sit her butt down and time the contractions, between calling Ray and the hospital. I jump in the shower, come back out to have her say, "5 minutes apart." Holey shiet! We are 45 minutes from the hospital, Ray is on his way back from work...40 minutes and she went fast with Amity!

I run back to the kwoon, tell Amity to come back and change for the hospital while I run home for a couple things. I get back about the time Ray gets back. I grab a sandwich while we finish packing Kate up and off to the hospital we go.

I was supposed to just be one of Kate's coaches. Amity wanted to stay for her brother's delivery. Amity started to freak out and I held her on my lap through the final stage of labor and explained everything to her so she'll calm down. Kate went fast and furious. We got to the hospital at 8PM, Zac was born at 11:09. Zac had some minor complications so they medivac'd him to a larger hospital this AM. I got home rather late...after dodging downed trees and branches from a horrendous storm that raged while Kate was in labor. I went back for Kate and Ray this AM. She refused to stay in the hospital while Zac was taken to another hospital. I don't blame her.

Anyhow...today was my dead day. I came home and slept all afternoon. I was so freakin' exhausted! I may try to get my dead day in tomorrow...but I also test for my next level sash tomorrow night! Ugh...play it by ear time I guess.

I have to say...letting a 10 year old watch the birth of their sibling is great preventative 'medicine'. After Amity got over the shock of what her mom went through she turned to me and said, "Aunty, I don't think I want to be having a baby after all..."

But...Ya know...when people ask me to stand in and coach during delivery...I really aught to learn to say "NO"...I did this baby-thing a few times myself already. I didn't really plan on doing it all over again!
