Default Hike Day

Gypsy and I took off to check on a newly repaired railbed trail that is eventually going to connect with the Southern New England Trunkline trail...a trail that has many, many intersecting trails and runs along the Massachusetts/Connecticut border for over 50 mile before crossing into Connecticut. At this point there are spots that have not fully been connected, a bridge needs to be repaired in one area and other similar repairs, but the completion of the newest section is going along very well. We've decided that this area we checked out today will be great for snowshoeing or cross country skiing.

I was very happy to find that the TLT runs along a canoe trail that I used quite a bit in my teens.

I have two goals for this year.
First: purchase a used mountain bike so Gypsy and I can trek/ride some of the railtrails in New England. (She's in the midst of repairing her bike, so I have to get my backside in gear, she'll be mobile soon!) There are more than a few places were we would like to leave our m-bikes with rangers so that we can pick them up at the end of a trail and bike back to the Blazer.
Second: Purchase a couple used kayaks so we can get some water/river trail time in. I have been on a few local river trails over the years and miss kayaking.

As you can tell...I really am an outdoorsy gal. Give me a backpack, kayak, bike, snowshoes or horse and I'm outta the house and into the wilds.
