I do Taekwon Do and this subject comes up daily. First off:

1. What are your goals? Self Defense? Fitness? Sparring? Grappling? Take Downs? Weapons? Kata?

2. What schools are nearby?

3. Do you have previous MA experience. You mentioned you used to wrestle so something like Brazilian Jujitsu, Judo, or Jujitsu might be something you will take to quickly.

4. Go to different schools at different times and watch them. Don't fall for hype. Most schools will let you take a free class or 2 w/out obligation. Make sure that you are not looking at a belt factory. A school with a thousand pre-teen Black Belts would trouble me.

5. Discuss w/ the Master/Instructor what your goals are and what you are looking for. Try not to get roped into long term contracts. Some schools are cheaper if you pay for a year up front but allow you to leave or suspend your membership.

Look around and test drive a few schools and styles. Find a school you are comfortable with and suits your needs.
