If you only have "a little" fat to lose, then why not just make a diet change?
You can cut a few cals or play around with proven methods for fat loss like "Carb Cycling" and let nature take it's course.
I lost 25+ lbs with carb cycling with no muscle loss and I did it within 3 months and with NO CARDIO.

Bottom line: The slower you take the fat off, the best chance you have for total muscle preservation.

If you do cardio, just dont do lengthy sessions (20-30 mins tops, or alot less if you do Interval training like HIIT)
