Theres nothing wrong with training at home. That goes for a professional or someone just starting. Besides the equipment, the only good thing about a gym is you should be able to find a spotter and you can view other peoples forms (which hopefully are correct) lol.
On the otherhand, you can use youtube or search here, alot of people post videos and you can view the form of whatever exercise.
About the days of the week question, do you have a routine in mind? Max-ot base form is a 5-day workout. I too would recommend Max-ot, it's a great routine.
