You use a watch for your resting? That's something that my partner got me to doing....he always brings a stopwatch and we do exactly three minutes between sets, sometimes two depending on the lift. What I noticed is at the start of the day, I would want to only rest for a minute or so, but by the end, I tended to get up to around 5. Keeping it at three (or two) measured has helped.
