Sometimes you need that spike in insulin, like in the morning and PWO. Dude, forget the nitrotech. There are much better proteins out there. If you really want to put on muscle mass, then you need to EAT! You said you were cutting before, while eating as much protein as you could, right? Well obviously you need to be eating more proteins, carbs, and fats.
