I code software that manages clinical trials for many big pharma companies. It cost allot of $$$ to hold a trial and if a company puts out for one their gona do everything in their power to ensure they can make the numbers fall in their favor. If they get 1% better than the other "drug" or Placebo all th e sudden they can say "Clinically proven to" <add some bull crap here>. Its all about the $$$$$$
Any no ones is gona even try to cure AIDS, they can make way more $$$$$$ just making something that works 1% better than placebo does to prolong your miserly. If they cured it, AIDS would go away & their great product would not be needed any more. But if they can just make it 1% better than a sugar pill - there in the $$$$$$ and its gona keep on rolling in. At least until the next company can up their product by 1%.

Companies that aren't floozies hold several clinical studies on products. The companies that know their stuff, tend to sometimes have comparisons with their products with other popular brand names. Even though they are liable to get sued, I haven't heard of any of this happening yet because you can't sue if the information is right
