I'm in agreement with NPayette mostly.
You don't necessarily need to say, "Hey, I don't want to be your friend anymore".
And if they're good people, you should remain friends with them on some level.
You should just start doing your own thing. You could still talk to them, call them, email, etc.
You just don't necessarily need to be hanging out with them all the time.
So, there would be a distance between you and them, but you wouldn't be cutting your friends out of your life.
