Oh...It can really hurt...The thing is that it usually doesn't hurt until long after the fight ends. I (I have referenced this fight before, I believe) was hit in the face out of nowhere one time and it shattered my nose to the point of having to have plastic surgery to put it back...I didn't feel a thing at the time because of the adrenaline pumping like crazy...After I destroyed the guy I went inside to clean myself up and when I looked at myself in the mirror I was pretty shocked that the punch had moved my nose so far over to the side...Then it started to hurt pretty bad...
